I now run 255/85 x 16 KM2s on Blindos (no spacers) , which provides all the benfits and more of the wider size but with none of the disbenefits.

I'm interested to know the benefits of running a wider tyre - i've always stuck to standard sizes on my Defenders but for no reason other than habit.

Few, but mainly cosmetic. The extra clearance under the diff can help, but a 255/85 gives you that without the crud on the outside of the vehicle.

If the KO2 was only available in a 255/85 I would recommend that, though personally I'd choose the KM2 over the KO2 any day.

Why? I run 265/75/16 KO's (old style) at the minute and plan to replace them with KO2 in the not too distant future. I do like the look and improved mud performance of the KM2's however. Primarily do road driving and towing, but it's not my primary vehicle.

How are the KM2's with regards to noise and wet road grip? They'd be going on Deep-dish alloys with 30mm spacers.

I have never had any issues with them at all, wet or dry. They are not the quietest, but then the Defender isn't a quiet envorinment. They are not as noisy as Goodyear Xtra-Grips!

I use the std Conti 235's

Cheap as chips as most people seem to change them? not sure why as I use mine on the road 99.9% of the time and they perform very well for a big truck. Wet or Dry I've had no issues? no mega tyre noise you can get going wide and the side wall is huge so no worries if the wife uses your truck (did I type that...)

I run KO's on 285/75/16's with 0 offset 16x8 modulars, not as nice to drive as the 235/85's that were on prior but still good, no suspension modification either

Ahh I see. Suppose they all have their pros & cons, I wont be buying anything until the new year so I have time to see for the best deals around for them.

Cheers for all the help though guys!

And as I cant resist on these kind of threads, Bear in mind your rim width just cos they fit doesn't mean they're right.

Pays your money and makes your choice, most likely never going to be an issue unless you're arguing your case in
a courtroom or with your insurer. 3 Landrovers
