Steering guard should not even be mentioned on the MOT. I have two tow jaws on my front bumper, they've never been commented upon.
Re. the seatbelt, mine looks similar, and all I do is carefully trim off all the "fluff" before the MOT. Again it has never been mentioned. A seatbelt should need far more severe damage than that to merit failing. Incidentally I now have one of those padded sleeve thingies on the belt to prevent further velcro damage. |

Thanks for the reassurance Blackwolf
I'm sure the recovery eyes won't be an issue unless he bangs his leg on them I reckon you're right on both counts. The seat belt is certainly more cosmetic than structural. Can you believe how it got damaged!!! |

Hope you don't get an idiot of a tester like I did.
Probably just my bad luck. Maybe your wing mirror extrudes beyond panels too far. I'm sure it'll be all okay. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ¥ó ®ó §ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ·ó ¬ó ³ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ³ó £ó ´ó ¿ðŸ‡®ðŸ‡ªðŸ‡ºðŸ‡¸â›½ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°ðŸ’ª |

To be fair Steve, the guy I use is normally ok, but prompted by your recent experience I'm just preparing for some hassle
Having focussed on those two items, you can bet your bottom dollar I'll be hit with something else Still, it will be what it will be and I will look forward to fitting my Scenelite once I've got a clean bill of health |

Singe the frayed belt with a lighter, it will give it a nice appearance and then pass the test, I would advice a new one sooner than later as the cost of a belt is nothing with the cost of you 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

Cheers Mash
It was a brand new belt for the MOT last year and another was ordered on Monday. I agree, at circa £40 it's not worth cutting (or fraying) any corners. I'm going to show the (removed) frayed belt to the tester and see what he says. I reckon its fine I'm keeping the new belt as my 'MOT belt' only and its going back in the box after each test My wife may have a different view to you though |

Depending on the tester, any extensive fraying/cuts to the outer edge or any holes a biro nib can pass through are a fail. If you are changing it depending on what locking method you have for the nuts make sure you check those too, it's often Nylocks and if so these should be fitted new each time as they are a one time use. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

I shall report back on Friday.....
New nylocs (and washers) fitted last year and new ones ready and waiting on the bench for this installation I took the opportunity last year to fully inspect, clean and paint the area underneath the lower mounting - it's like brand new I even applied a film of Tefgel..... (OCD) |

No issues with swivel eyes on my bumper and as for frayed seat belts, the tip from my MOT tester was to wave a lighter over the fibres and remove them! 1999 Defender TD5 110
