Wipac Crystal types how many are there ?
Hello all can anyone tell me how many different types of wipac crystal headlights there are ?
Some are advertising flat/domed/svx/with/without side light etc
Which are the best for light output ?
They are going on my TD5 90 with aftermarket loom.
Cheers Chris.

Hello

From Paddocks I ordered wipac crystals, I already had Philips mega bulbs and also bough the loom (yet to fit) as I don't do electrics so will have to wait for another day...

What arrived were not what I ordered and I am still awaiting a reply so will not be holding my breath, anyway mine were the type with the side lights. As it happens the Philips bulbs (high vision plus I think) came with new side light bulbs.

I like them, with sides on I like the fact the headlamps glow also.

Compared to the std pair they are much much better.

These are them when its not even that dark, I like this on sides...

These were what I was sent... separate side light bulb and reflector.

I'm happy with them much better than std, still not what I ordered though. When I fit the loom it should be even better Smile

As far as I can tell, and I stand to be corrected, actual genuine Wipac crystals have no sidelights and there is no internal shroud hiding the bulb. The problem seems to be that more than one supplier seem to employ a bit of artistic license when it comes to what you actually get.

I ordered from Rimmer Bros and what actually arrived were Britpart units with shrouds covering the bulb and sidelights built in. They work well, but they aren't genuine Wipac. Stacey007 seems to have had similar experience ordering from Paddocks. I think the problem maybe that the Britpart parts inventory that both suppliers use is a bit vague about what is what. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

SVX type on all our Solihull product.
(Daren't say why we don't have LED headlights).

They look good in my opinion, and work well.

Wipac lights will come in a Wipac box. Last set I bought at the local parts dealer were about £20 a side.

Standard Wipac Quadoptics and +120 GE bulbs, plus relayed supply directly off the alternator, means my headlights are nice and bright. Nice clear cut-off so no dazzling people either. Previous set were Wipac Crystals which were also fine, I have found no difference in performance between Quadoptics and Crystals. I only changed them because after 4 years they had gone almost opaque. A downside of polycarbonate lenses I guess.

Almost all my driving is on fast, unlit, country roads in the dark on the west coast of Scotland and usually in the rain or snow, so good lights are a must. LEDs were not considered.
