With the Jet Boil I use the bigger gas canisters they last a lot longer, granter they don't fit inside the cup, but I don't carry a ruck sack where space is precious. Adventure isn't paved!

Buy a Kelly Kettle for half the price.
Has the advantage of free fuel.

A couple of years ago we were in Scotland in March, with very cold temperatures and a foot or so of snow on the ground with much bigger drifts. A friend of mine had a new Jetboil and I had my "Kelly kettle". Parked side by side in a forest we decided to see if the jetboil was as quick as he claimed...
Using the same amount of water and starting from scratch, the kelly kettle was twice as fast as the jetboil. So, if it's speed you're after, Kelly kettle wins hands down and it's also free to run and you're extremely unlikely to run out of fuel as all it takes is a few twigs to boil a couple of litres of water. In the time it took for him to boil 2 litres of water in his Jetboil we'd made our coffee and had just finished boiling a second fill for a flask. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/ |

Prefer more old school, generally keep this Optimus 111 in the boot. Runs on paraffin, however it does run on diesel pretty well too. You can strip it right down and rebuild it, all spares still available, has that nice serviceableness about it.

Beats any other pressure stove I've come across. |

I have a MSR Dragonfly stove, which I love.
recently changed my kettle after a small mishap with my old one, the new kettle boils a lot faster then the old one even with the same stove. |

It's a jet oil for me every time now. I've seen some nasty accidents with Kelly/ghillie kettles DON'T PANIC

+1 for the Kelly Kettle. Used to use one a lot when 'out & about' - juat need some dry material to start it then feed it with whatever comes to hand & is flammable, even if it's not tinder dry it will burn!

Click image to enlarge Can certainly vouch for the brand With white spirits it churns through a boil on my little kettle (MSR Titan) - can only imagine it'll twice as fast with the reactor style range.. Hopeless for more controlled cooking of anything but water though, that's where the 'universal' option of gas canisters comes in  Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants... |
