I have never found WD 40 any good for un-seizing very rusty fixings, it tries too hard to be all things and ends up doing none of them very well.
I always use Plusgas much more searching. Or Halfords Shock & Unlock Spray, which combines powerful penetrating fluids and freezing agents which "shock free" rusted fixing. Mine were also seized. Just a case of working the pin round each way. Once it starts moving, it moves more and more and will come out

Mine are stuck fast, to the point I cut though the pins so I could remove the vent and carry on with the bulkhead repair. So I now have half a pin stuck in the bulkhead part of the hinge. I too am wary about hitting it out. I'm currently soaking them in Plusgas.
I did wonder about making a tool to hold the hinge and push the pin out. I'll see how the Plusgas route goes! Any other ideas welcome. Mike Hard Top 90 TD5 2001 Ford 100e 1959 www.youtube.com/mikemakesit |

I managed to get one pair out of mine but the drivers side are still stuck fast, I've hammerd them so much that I've mushroomed the end of the thread now!

I found taking the two bolts out that hold it to the opening knob gives you lots more movement of the vent flap itself so breaks the rust hold better and coupled with copious amounts of any of the products mentioned above they should start to move. The two bolts are undone from under the vent flap when it's open Ray

Thanks Guys. I've got the vent off, which was moving freely, by cutting thought the pins. The parts of the pins left in the hinge attached to the bulkhead are the bits I'm trying to get out. I don't want to bash them or apply heat really as I have enough repair work to do already. I'll come up with something that will (I hope) press the pins out. Fingers crossed! I do have the pins soaking with Plusgas which I have found works wonders.. Mike

In the end I made a little clamp up to get the pins out. A bit crude but it worked a treat!!
