@Leeds, I sent you a pm regarding that security tilt cage, as I didn't get any answer from Patriot ... sent them 2 emails ... I'd like to get pics, see how its closed, etc ...

I'll dig out the pics of the tilt cage I fitted to our 110 TR later. Need to sort them out anyway as we're going to put it up for sale.

What are you selling ? The tilt cage or the 110 ? If it's the tilt cage I'm buying ! Mr. Green Regards

Does anybody have any images of the interior roll hoop at the B-Pillar?

I'm about to have my Whitbread cage fitted and I'm tempted to get the internal hoop too. I'm fitting bucket seats and want to see how much clearance there's likely to be, for the seat. Also interestyed to see how much the hoop encroaches on the rear passenger space.

thanks!

Hi Mike_B

I had an external / internal cage on my old 110 (sold last year).

With the standard seats you will have full movement of the seat forwards and back.

I had a set of Cobra Monaco seats that because of the shoulder flaires of the seat i had to position the seat so that the shoulder section was behind the B hoop. At 5ft 8 i had to bend my side of the seat back to get into a comfortable driving position. Unfortunatly my wife could then not drive the car until i unbolted the seat and repositioned it forward of the B hoop - gave up on this as too much hassle Laughing

If you are tall that me then you should not have an issue apart from smacking your head on it as you get bounced side ways - believe me you can never have enough padding!!!

Good luck and hope useful

Mark

On the subject of PP and issues they said that Land Rover never made the type of sunroof that my 110 had - lever to open - even though it is featured in the work manual. Hence i could not open the sunroof with the B Hoop in place - oh and they sent me the arms from a 90 instead of a 110 which i then had to wait for the other customer to return his as they did not carry replacements in stock at the time

Cheers mark. That picture's really useful. I'm planning on putting cobra Monaco's in mine, mounted onto custom made base plate. The seat isnt going to be adjustable. Once you were in the seat, did the bar get in your way or dig into you, or was it OK? From what you said about the shoulder flare sitting behind the upright bar, it sounds like there's no longer anywhere for the right side of your body to sit comfortably...

Mike,

The bar in the SD cage is completly in a different place. It doesn't come close to fouling the seats... will try and take a picture in the morning Very Happy

I have no doubt it will be different to them all. One of the guys on here has a Malcom special... he might have pictures? Internal hoop makes it WAY safer.

Hi Mike

Is yours a 90 or 110? if a 90 it does sit further back - behind the bulk head so would have no issues with the seats.

In my case it never felt as if it was in the way even though the top of my arm would have been touching it.

Had to admit i miss the security that it gave when driving off road and am looking at a full external for the 90 that i now have - just need to be very precise with my measurements to get it through the garage door. The SD cage sits a lot closer to the body work which is want i need - some cages do seem to sit a lot higher over the roof which is something to consider if you have a lift kit and live in an area of open car parks with height restriction barriers.

Have fun

Mark

Mine's a 110 CSW. It's standard height, but will still struggle in most car parks if fitted with a cage - I'm not too concerned - I hate multi-storeys anyway!

I have noticed the SD one does sit more snug and I like tthat more than big gaps (Bit OCD when it comes to things like that)

Mine hasn't got a lift and with the SD cage can still get into most car parks.... I do try to avoid multi-story ones anyhow.

Great looking wagon now Glynne, what snorkel do you have to use with the cage, home made or southdown etc? You cannot teach stupid people to do clever things

When fitting a roll cage, should you fit up-rated suspension?
