wipers work, but not intermittent, and dont self park

07 plate XS, Puma.

A slightly different problem from previous threads about wipers, which I have looked at.

The wipers started playing up in intermittent mode, stopping in various places on the screen. A week later, I've lost the intermittent completely, and there is no self-parking. I just have normal and high-speed, and have re-learned my >50 year old skills at parking wipers by the switch.

Local garage mutters about "known thing with LandRovers"" and "needs a new motor".

Do selfpark switches fail progressively please ?

My bet is the Park switch not the motor. He will probably change everything in one go and so say the motor was faulty. Roel

FWIW, I had motors just stop on me after a few wipes.

Changed the relay for the 'upgraded' programmable type and all was good and working again. No need to change motors!

Worth a shot? Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...

Park switch are my thoughts too, luckily switch is less than a tenner and takes about 30mins to change.

I started with nothing and still have most of it left!

Less than a tenner will get you a decent replacement, approx double that will get you a genuine Lucas

Agreed, Most likely to be the park switch... but also possibly the wiper relay... Both easy to change and not costly.

PS, If it is the relay... Buy a VW type 99 relay and get programmable intermittent wipers at the same time It doesn't matter how bad it is, It can always get worse...

Oh, and the programmable item looks like a sensible replacement at the same time.
