Frend of mine @mcma1 suggested i join up start a thread on my arguments.. i mean progress with my 130.
Bit of a background. Basically after selling my kitted D1 start of 2015 i wanted a defender and i wanted something to tow the race car triple axle and act as a support vehicle to the family business of Haulage. Around the end of 2015 i found a project case over here in N.I. an ex NIE 2002- defender 130 with no engine and missing alot of parts. I bought it and paid too much in hindsight since i scraped most of it lol. Click image to enlarge Looking for TD5 engines and all proved expensive, around then i fell in with Nick Steggel, Ash Witty, Simon and Reece to name a few who quickly suggested i fit a cummins. I thought its mad... I LOVE IT, the added practicality of the on-board air compressor and towing ability soon had me hooked. Ive stuck a few photos in, started with this in December Click image to enlarge And ive been working my way through all year first stripping. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Then rebuilding and adjusting along the way Click image to enlarge Air suspension got added into the mix along the way Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Then a larger turbo and injectors Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge This is a short summary there is 100's of pictures on facebook etc and videos on youtube of it running and the suspension etc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20JAPFSQr4E Currently working on an exhaust and wiring. Cheers guys.
Well ive been cracking on with the electrics. Finished up the wiring under the seat adding a new switched live relay to power the accessories only when the ignitions on so you cant leave a seat or light on after the ignitions off. I then made all the looms to go to and from the cubby box. including the airride controller, but ill still have to make a bracket for that. I had to add some extra connector on the loom as i want to remove the box and cover-lid easily to get to the tbox. Also wiried up the main front light bar into the full beam and also into its own switch. So you can run it with or without main beam. Click image to enlarge The finished position for now, i may more it slightly further forward and crank the gear lever but ill see how it fairs with a few cups in the holders. Click image to enlarge Finally this lets me get some light on the situation without jumping wires. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge -Ged |

Is that and air assisted gearbox? What's the sound between between gears?
And have you got any more information about the air suspension? That looks awesome. |
