i got an ARB to go on my 90. won't fit at the mo due to the light guards getting in the way.
I have been led to believe this company will "supply" the parts to make a arb /tjm type bumper. Pic no. 20 http://www.pwsacc.co.uk/bumpers-winch-fitting.htm |

AHHH - i saw a farmer with an "odd" winch bumper/bull bar - it was one of these.
So you must be able to get them in the UK Mike |

I would be worried about the legality of that. The fines for manufacturing a bull bar is crazy high if found out.- unless only for off-road use.... I have had to remove the light guards to fit the TJM one.... otherwise for them to be compatible the bumper would have to stick a long way off the front of the wagon. Other option would be to go for a A-bar type if you want to keep the light guards. Glyn ![]() ![]() |

I dont think it will be a problem (legal) in Ireland on a commercial vehicle.

Unfortunatly it is European law for all vehicles.... the most you can get away with manufacturing now is winch bumpers with a small hoop on. Stoopid European Laws ![]() Glyn ![]() ![]() |

A ton of posts on the legality of these (search and you find heaps of posts).
It isn't illegal to buy them, or indeed to fit them - only to manufacture them for non-specialised use. If you can find one, buy it and fit it ![]() They are allowed in winch bumpers or on vehicles that have a genuine need of one (commercial, farm, off-road...) so if you do much off road, you're probably fine. Regardless, owning and fitting isn't illegal - just manufacturing and selling ![]() + New Defender 110 First Edition |

So your insurance company was ok with the fitment of these bullbars, even though the vehicle is newer than the bullbar legislation of 2007? 2005 TD5 90 Hard Top

Probably until you kill someone and the actual insurance company come out! eg the loss adjuster and underwriter not the sales girl for the broker Mike |

Bull bar Legislation,...... you have answere your own question...... I have read through the official document more than one time and it doesn't say anything about fitting a pre-2007 bull bar to a post-2007 vehicles. As mentioned above, the legislation talks about the manufacture of the Bull bar, and the manufacture of new vehicles..... nothing about fitting one after the vehicle has been registred. My insurance has been informed and have no issues at all with it.
Cheers mate, still a few things to do ![]() Glyn ![]() ![]() |

Sorry to drag this up again, but what is the official line with fitting a full fat bull bar like the ARB/TJM units? Anyone know?
EDIT: To answer my own question: http://assets.dft.gov.uk/publications/dft-...l-bars.pdf |
