... Topic Hijack !
But I'm doing a market search for a roll cage to fit in my 110DC ... PP is now off the list ! after recent events reported by landydubai However I got a quote for a SD roll cage and I was shocked ! First, can any of you confirm that the references can be one of these two ? RBL185 7SSS or RBL205 7SSS to fit a 110DC ? From the drawings cannot quite understand the difference between them ... And how much do they cost over there ? I got a quote for RBL185 7SSS – 2.545.71 Euros (2146 GBP) + VAT (23% over here) RBL205 7SSS – 1499.14 Euros (1264 GBP) + VAT (23% over here) Am I being ripped off ? Just found the email from Frogs Island:
This was back in 2009 so the price may have changed a little but I doubt it will be up as much as they are demanding Current exchange rate is about 1.18 Therefore £1400 is 1652 EU..... +23%= 2032 EURO inc VAT, saving you over 500Euro on the price you are quoted!! I didn't use them in the end but they supplied me with my frontrunner under-cubby box safe... great service. Glyn |

Thanks Glyn
That was very helpfull! I could not tell from the SD drawings .... And I'm still waiting for the local dealer to explain me ...! And the RBL205 7SSS goes all the way to the back? or the load area is not covered by the roll cage ? That means that the full external rollcage is more expensive ... And it means that they're charging me a LOT ! something like 2650 GBP for the RBL185 7SSS!!! I have to see if it's cheaper to buy from the UK even with carriage ... If and when you could take some pics, I'd apreciate it very much! Thank you very much! Try and find out weight and volume off a packed roll cage.
I had a quote to ship a euro pallet from Europe to UK. Cost £150!. That was 10% off the value of the goods! A roll cage could well be a double pallet For me to send a roof tent to Norway it was going to be £3-400! So don't crucify your local dealer just yet! Brendan PS How about a holiday in UK and get it fitted here? Only 20% VAT to pay then. You could arrange it to coincide with one of the LR shows. Just a thought |

Doesn't go anywhere near the load area.from the B-post back it is internal and will probably cause issues with room for passengers in te back seats.
There is soo much more to the external cage compared to the internal one.
SD cages are now manufactured in Poland.... it would probably be just as cheap to deliver it straight to you rather than over the water to UK and then back to the continent.
Not a bad idea at all Glyn |

I usually don't carry passengers in the back ... short distances only ...not my problem! But I'll wait for your pics, Glyn, if you don't mind! As for a trip there it was planned for this year, from Dover to Aberdeen and back! ... It was due in September/October, I'd like to go there in the end of summer, beggining of autumn ...but I went back to University this year, to get a master's degree, and it will take 2 years ... so trips can only be made in August ... ...so probably only in 2012 ... @Leeds, I sent you a pm regarding that security tilt cage, as I didn't get any answer from Patriot ... sent them 2 emails ... I'd like to get pics, see how its closed, etc ... Joao, I did email them midweek asking for photos, no reply yet unfortunately.
Will try and ring them during the week to chase them. However I am busy at the moment (first show next weekend) and quite often when I get round to chasing firms it is after 5pm. One reason I like email! If you have not got a reply from me by the 15th Feb, give me a prod as will then have time during normal work hours to see if I can get some photos for you. Anyone else got a Patriot tilt security they can photo for Joao? Brendan |

thanks leeds ... it's not urgent ... but it's a must have item! day before yesterday got to the car and there was a guy, peeking inside the load area , he'd opended the zips and had his head inside! have you seen the nerve of these people?! Regards

I'll dig out the pics of the tilt cage I fitted to our 110 TR later. Need to sort them out anyway as we're going to put it up for sale. John http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |

Performance and protection are a bunch of thieves from my experience stick to SD as from my own experience they are by far the best around. I decided to try PPG and they are back street bandits not to be trusted
Take a look in my gallery for the treacle chocolate pudding finish ! They are lower than a snakes belly I own and run my own inspection company and I sent one of my painting inspectors to inspect the cage when it arrived he signed the report ................Charlie from the chocolate factory LandyDubai Keep the shiny side up! 09 110 XS BAS remap 09 90 pick up BAS remap 08 D3 V8 G4 Spec Bentley Speed GT 2009 G55 2003 Ford Raptor 2010 - new toy! |
