Puma breather pipe - can it be removed?
I had a look in the the turbo inlet pipe on my 2.4 puma today and it was quite wet with oil from the breather that comes from the top of the engine. I assume that means all through my turbo, intercooler and inlet manifold has a very nice coating of dirty oil. Now the car uses little to no oil so I assume this is pretty standard and an accumulation of nine years of oil mist.

I,ve been thinking about how to stop the muck. Could the breather pipe be replaced with a filter or catch can or something and the port on the turbo inlet pipe blacked off? Would the engine run ok? Has anyone done it? Any reason it can't, or shouldn't, be done? 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

search provent for various threads on this issue, I ran with mine disconnected for a while but the smell of crank case fumes resulted in me reconnecting it. DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,
