I didn't have to install any drivers, just switched it on, got the codes from the website, entered them and it was away. Andy

Could be wrong, but the driver is for the Nanocom desktop program for the nanocom 1 series. The preferred connection is by RS232 through COM-1 etc, but most modern laptops/desktops only have usb connections, hence the need for a usb driver to be used in conjunction with a RS232 to usb lead.

Have been playing with my Nanocom today, Tried for ages to get the 'Nanocom Graphic viewer' to work but it wont recognise the files the unit saves Sad

So imported the data into excel and made my own charts, there are a few strange spikes but on the whole it all looks ok.

Top chart is throttle positions and battery voltage

Middle chart is injector readings

Lower chart is road speed blue/airflow red/manifold pressure green

Does anyone know if the Graphic Viewer is compatible with the Evolution?

I too have tried to get the CSV files loaded into GV but found the files corrupted and were not recognized by the GV program so assumed that the GV is only compatible with nanocom 1 and not the evo. I use data capture and use excel to show the highest values and to make graphs to show the recorded values but find the graphs show too much data and the info I'm after is lost in the clutter. As CSV (comma separated values/variables) files are easy to read in excel it is easy to separate them and compare the info you are after, ie Fuel rail pressure, injectors, rpm, engine coolant temp (cylinder head) and then make a graph to compare the info you are after over the period you are monitoring.

Some light reading: http://creativyst.com/Doc/Articles/CSV/CSV01.htm

Resurrection!

Can someone (and it might be you Lorryman!) explain to a non-IT literate bloke how to create graphs from the comma separated values files collected from a Nanocom Evo 2 on an SD card.

I can open the .csv file in Excel, which produces what you might expect, comma separated lines of figures for each of the many parameters at a given moment in time, but I'm Censored if I can turn them into something readable. Tried Googling etc to no avail.

Thanks.

Depending on the version of Excel used, a CSV file usualy opens with Excel automatically putting the values into separate cells depending on the commas

If you find that the data is all in one cell or column with comms still there, do this.

Select the data
The choose the data menu, then select "text to columns" then wehn asked for separator select "commas"

Once you have the data in separate cells, just highlight and select "chart"

Thank you. I'm trying this on Excel for Mac Evil or Very Mad

The data for each given sample (the whole line of output covering all readings at a moment in time) is in one cell, hence the confusion.

I'll try what you suggest and have another go. And probably find myself a PC.

Thanks again.
