Thanks once again for the reply Fifth Horseman.
Yes I have been on the Nanocom forum, I raised this problem with them before Christmas. Its been ongoing till today. They have been very helpful but after numerous suggestions and quite a few beta updates we have been unable to solve it. So today its gone back. I will await what they find. sat13. |

Nanocom returned from Black box.
They could not find anything wrong with it. It worked on all there test rigs. So it must be my vehicle that's at fault, even though my other diagnostic gear works fine. I cant fault Black box they have been more than helpful with this and did not charge for postage back from Cyprus. So it looks like there will be a Nanocom coming up in the for sale section. (Gap IIDtool BT next when funds allow.) Regards to all. sat13. |

I'm considering buying a Nanocom Evolution, but am not sure weather it ever needs connecting to Windows PC, which I don't have. Can someone confirm if they are truly standalone and never need plugging into a computer? If there is a requirement to connect to a computer, would it work with a Mac?

As far as i'm aware, connection to a PC (or mac) is only needed to update firmware. You will also need to log onto their site to receive your unlock codes, but this can be done on anything that will get to the site (as in, you don't need to have nanocom connected) TD5 Defender 90

As stated the only time you need to connect the Nanocom to a computer is to upgrade the firmware. This will need to be a PC running Windows. or a windows virtual machine on a Mac. Using a VM for firmware updates I've found the writing process can sometimes be unreliable and may require more than one attempt. Not too serious an issue though. |

Cheers, I can always nip to my mates or wherever for Firmware update. How frequent do the updates happen and am I likely to have to apply one with first use?

I have tried the newly arrived nanocom on my 110 td5 csw on a 56 plate tonight. All appears great on the engine side and the unlock codes worked first time, but the 10AS system throws Communication error 1 when trying to access any functions. I'm guess a connection error, wiring or something. Any pointers to be looking at?

Just received my Nanocom from the latest group buy.
Doh 😖 I can’t even get over the first hurdle. Iv even registered in the Nanocom forum. I can’t open up any features as it’s locked and can’t find a menu to allow me access. Some beginners help would be muchly appreciated. Keith. Click image to enlarge |

Keith, did you study the paperwork supplied with it first?
I’m purposely ignorant to all things computerish (i’ve NEVER bought a computer) I managed get mine up and running. But i found the paper included with box really useful, I read it three times before turning the box on. Maybe PM the guy on here? |
