2006 Defender 110 Td5 XS CSW Zambezi Silver

I have laid up the 110 until my mechanic (MOT man) friend can take a peek at it on Sunday as the sound was quite noticeable last night.

Back to the 300tdi Disco for now.

No the reason for a remap and EGR deletion was just to get a bit more useable oomph. For instance where I work there is ahort uphill 1:5 as I exit the farm where the office is based. In a cold standard TD5 I had to thrash the nuts off in 2nd before finally cresting in 3rd. The disco goes up in 4th easilly as does the TDCi. Also cruising along the foot of Ivinghoe Beacon some days the 110 would struggle to get to 50. I suspect it was a sticky EGR now as other days it would happily cruise up at 50 but would have no pick up.

With the EGR deletion and remap at 50 uphill there is plenty of throttle response as it is sitting at the right torque spot.

I am usually quite a sedentary driver but as I say there are plenty of uphills as I cross the Chilters each day that they 110 would fall flat on and either have to be hussled up in advace or you ended up plodding.

This is a 10 year old that is annually serviced by my local LR dealer and is indeed still covered under LR extended Warranty.

The remap has definately brought more driveability to the vehicle and I much prefer the drive now as I find the ride in swmbos 90 rather choppy.

I will update the post when I have had opportunity to check out the issue as free time at the moment is limited.

hmmm, if it is the manifold should I refit the EGR before taking it back to LR and seeing if I can blag it under the warranty? He who dies with the most toys wins

Hmm still no diagnosis on the TD5 yet. My pet mechanic came round and we ran the engine in situ but could not pick out the sound.

We could see no broken manifold studs or signs of carbon around the branches.

Unfortunately as the builders have effectivly blocked it in we could not take it for a road test.

Just to reiterate, once the engine is warm there is a "tick / clunk / chuffing / knocking" noise per firing cycle which is only evident with the engine under load. It is not detectable if there is no load even reving the engine. Yet is extremely pronounced when e.g. at 30mph in 5th gear you lightly accelerate. He who dies with the most toys wins

Is it just a noise, or is there a miss in the engine when it fires under load? it's a Landrover thing...

Well the dealer says the engine is reporting injector open circuit on 1 & 2 and have replaced the wiring harness.

I will pick KJ up tomorrow morning and hopefully it will be resolved, sadly not coverred by the extended warranty
