France 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 DCPU Corris Grey
Saint Gervais Les Bains, hands down. Also in the Haute Savoie, as is Morzine, but knocks it and trois vallee, into a cocked hat. Why?

1. I live here.

If that ain't enough of a reason, in no particular order:

2. 400km of piste
3. Cheaper skiing than Morzine or Meribel
4. Only 45-60 mins from Geneva Airport (not 2.5 hrs as Meribel or 90-120mins as is Morzine)
5. You're only 20mins to Chamonix if you need a hard core skiing fix
6. Picture post card town full of Belle Époque architecture including a building designed by Eiffel

7. If you asked me to name the best restaurant to eat in in the Haute Savoie, it'd be in St Gervais. As would the next four.

8. Family friendly without being 'Disney'
9. More investment per capita than in any other French ski resort over the past ten years.
10. Views of Mont Blanc while you ski

11. Ski in Italy within an hour's drive
12. Hit the Big powder bowls (that are usually untouched) in Les Contamines

13. Enjoy a day off at the thermal baths or our new pool

14. Excellent snow shoeing, X-country skiing, ski touring and paragliding also available

15. Annual Snow Rugby 6-Nations tournament (yes, that is Serge Betsen)

16. Michelin starred dining in town (or on the slopes, if that's your thing)
17. Get your clubbing fix at La Folie Douce

18. Going skiing in the Chamonix Valley by 100 year old Tram

19. Year round mountain town, most definitely NOT a resort
20. Far fewer Brits on Tour, which can only be a good thing, but still Brit friendly especially La Grange on 6Ns days...

And did I mention I live here? Whistle

I mean, look at the fun this lot are having. Need I say more.

I guarantee, you won't regret it. Thumbs Up

PS, I don't work for the Tourist Office!! Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

Hi Steve

If you want to stay in France then my vote goes to either Val D'Isere or La Tania. Like the Paradiski ski area they are both large areas with plenty of skiing if you're a mile muncher Very Happy

If you fancy something different then for me it has to be the Dolomites-simply stunning scenery, really friendly people & great food-oh & some pretty good skiing too Laughing We're planning a possible drive there ourselves this winter in the Defender to Corvara, it really is worth a look. Thumbs Up
