Rivets for Body Cappings - Aluminium or Stainless stem?
I'm just about to replace the body cappings with the galvanised type, however I'm struggling to work out which type of sealed rivets would be best.

Options are:

Stainless steel stem with aluminium head

Or

Aluminium stem with aluminium head (at twice the cost)

In my head, both are going to end up corroding due to the different metal types.

Thoughts? Confused

What about fully stainless?

Stainless head and mandrel, no aluminium to worry about.

You know you've got them in the rivet gun though, they make you grunt a bit!

I have no idea what the reaction between stainless and galvanised mild steel is, but it must be better than aluminium.

The dome shaped aluminium rivets on my series haven't corroded and they were 63 years old when I removed them from the cappings 1953 80"

Cleaned and de burred holes, copious amounts of Duralac or similar, sealed Avdel rivets dipped in Duralac.

Job done for a good few years Razz
