2.4 Puma Engine Surging
Having an issue recently when I change gear the engine revs surge (not to be confused with holding revs). This seems to happen intermittently but generally around 2700 revs.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

Cheers

Mark

First thing you should do is check fuse of brake-light. If thats fine, read

Feedback appreciated

Hello Hornet,

Thanks for your reply. I have read your linked thread but can say it's not the same issue. This is a very recently occurring issue and is intermittent (50-60% of the time). Clutch switch replaced yesterday and it's still happening.

Any DTCs?

This could be a VCV fault. VCV faults can cause many strange symptoms, usually without DTCs.

Hi Blackwolf,

Vcv was replaced also and it's still surging - no faults registered.

Interestingly it's only occurring in the 2500 to 2800 rev range.

It sounds like clutch switch but given you have replaced it i would look at other things in same area. Is the wiring to switch intact? Also When was the clutch fluid last replaced? Old fluid may not be holding up to hydraulic pressure and not activating the switch.

Clutch fluid was changed last month.

Will need to check the turbo actuator - was thinking along those lines and also need to check the turbo modulator harness whilst I'm at it.

Thanks
