OK I have done a search but I can't find what I'm looking for...
I have a 110 SW and often use all 7 seats so can't loose any. Whilst the cubby and glove box are good for small items and the pedal lock fits nicely under the double middle row seat nicely. What I'm struggling to store securely/safely is the 'recovery gear' i.e. warning triangle, tow rope/shackle/strop, hi viz vest and a few tools? Currently have them stuffed under the single middle row seat but not ideal. I'm really after a box or something bolted or strapped down, rather than just a loose in the back. I've considered a MSS slimline box behind the rear most seats but think this will make access for the kids in the back even more difficult. I wonder if there is anything that could go into the wheel arch or floor? I saw this and wonder where it could fit in a SW? http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic48854.html The bracket which secures the rear most seat on the wheel arch really gets in the way of a useful space. Any ideas or solutions would be gratefully received. Anything I should look at at the LRO Show? Maybe the Mantec load lugger could be useful as it is easy to remove and put back quite quickly http://www.flatdoguk.com/defender-load-lugger~749

there was a company who made a MSS type box/drawer that fitted between the 3rd row seats on the boot floor and had clips on the top that the fold out seats clipped into. I can't remember the name of the company now .. but there was also a lot of talk about how safe this idea was due to changing how the 3rd row seats lock into/onto the box top and was it approved.. (or not)
the drawer/box did not go the full length of the boot, so it made a foot well behind the 2nd row for the 3rd row ... but the idea is a good one ... just needs over engineered solution |

"blows own trumpet"
I can get: shackles x3 bridle x 1 5m strops x2 breaker bar x 1 small but relatively comprehensive socket/torx/hex/ratchet tool kit warning triangle hi viz vest x2 gloves & square of rag ...in the battery box. rattle and stress free. its a tight fit and I wouldn't want to be using that stuff every day but for a rainy day it works - am I doing something wrong? also for the mantec load lugga - one of those things that when you have one you're not sure how you did without... Cheers |

What you want is the drawer that was sold by Sense of Adventure. I don't know whether they are still in business as the website I had for them no longer works.
It was a short length drawer which started an inch from the back door and finished just before the legroom for the rear seats. It had two brackets on the top that replaced the legs of the seats. However, I am not sure whether it was ever CE marked as it was a critical safety element for the rearmost passengers. Maybe it was, but I remember on here there was a discussion on it. I have one fitted that I could take a photo of if you wanted. I was going to remove it and sell it as I took the rearmost seats out as I wanted more storage space. Unfortunately, I bolted it in so secure it was going to be an absolute b1tch to take out so didn't bother. |

Thanks for suggestions so far. I'll investigate battery box further sounds like you can get quite a bit in!
Not sure the load lugger is going to work for me as i want a permanent storage and kids/friends can want to go in almost on a daily basis. Bpman and Scotm - that sounds interesting, however the link doesn't work in the posted thread and no sign on 'senseofadventure' on google James MY2012 110 2.2TDCi XS SW Orkney Grey - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic43410.html MY1990 110 200TDi SW beautifully faded Portofino Red - https://www.defender2.net/forum/post743641.html#743641 MY1984 90 V8 Slate Grey - https://www.defender2.net/forum/post744557.html#744557 Instagram @suffolk_rovers |

smb - it does sound good but it would seem they are no longer available, unless someone else has taken them over?
I need to investigate MSS more as they do a narrow box that fits behind the 3rd row seats without interfering with the seats, just not sure how easy it would be to climb over. I'll look at the LRO Show and hope someone has one on a stand. Hairysteve - that does look ideal! Thank you.
Maybe MSS would replicate something similar? I suspect the CE marking of modifying the seat mounts may cause issues. It would certainly be a concern for me, from an insurance point of view. I must admit I bought mine second hand from someone who bought it new. When they came to fit it they couldn't figure out whether it needed bolting down to the floor or the sides or both. They started to get worried when they tried to find out what testing it has gone through and whether it was completely safe. They gave up in the end as the guy who was SOA was a right arrogant tw.t who kept fobbing them off. I spoke to a number of good suppliers who all told me to be weary of him as he had done the dirty on previous employers in the LR scene.
I tried to buy one direct from SOA and must admit the arrogance was astounding. They wanted all my money, but couldn't tell me when I could have it as they wanted an order for ten before they would make them Whether it is legit from a Safety point of view is very questionable and would go on the side of caution and not bother. I don't think I would be able to live with myself if in a serious Head-On I was greated in the front by the rearmost passengers!! I still have mine fitted, but I have taken out the rearmost seats as with the Top Roof compartment I cannot fit rearmost passengers. I did try, but you would have to be only 2-3 ft tall to be able to fit. My advice: Forget the idea and go and speak to MSS. I will eventually take mine out and sell it, but not to anyone on here. Too close to home for me. |

smb - that's very useful information and makes total sense!
I think I'll make more enquiries to MSS. Another alternative for storage of smaller items are the floor safes (left and right) from GMB.
