What is it with MP's (general scathing comment)? There seems to be an unusually high percentage which get caught out in one way or another. I suppose our lives are not lived in the spotlight and I don't think a tabloid newspaper has ever thought about following my every move with undercover reporters.
And I thought Keith Vaz was one of the more 'normal' MPs But then I thought John Major was grey, boring and only ate peas. Maybe Spitting Image was to blame? (The Queen Mum did have a Yorkshire accent, right?) peddling family values whilst carrying on with Eggwina..... Seems Mr Vaz was involved in de-criminalising prostitution and bringing harder sentencing to those who bought the services. Pot, Kettle? |

I would rather have Bono lecture me about poverty and how I should give my money away to the starving Africans (and I despise Bono) than have to see or hear of this double standard MP ever again. You have to ask yourself is there any moral, honest or trustworthy politicians, I think we all know the answer. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

A bit harsh perhaps! The underlying issue is that the pay isn't good enough to attract high calibre candidates or those without vast inherited wealth. Reminds me of the old joke about any club that would have me as a member I wouldn't want to be a member of. There are deviants in every walk of life, the really mediocre ones become MPs, others buy £100m super yachts. We get what we pay for!

It's not the money. The issue is that these people want to be politicians. This in and of itself is enough reason for them to never be allowed anywhere near the job. Career politicians are only interested in one thing, themselves, not the population they are elected to serve. Giving them more money will not return a better class of representatives just a more devious sort. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

I don't suppose Mrs Vaz will be at all impressed, whether she was aware of her husbands private life or not. I just hope his children aren't school age. School is one of the cruelest places to be and they are mostly all back today.
I don't think anyone has a problem with people having a 'private life' (hell, there's enough of us on here with an unhealthy interest in Land Rovers?) but these people are employed to be the pillar of society. They debate and decide on our laws, how we should live within our country. So when these people are found to be less than squeaky clean, and potentially breaking the law in the process, I believe that they need to start being humble, not blaming the journalists and everyone else rather than themselves. He was involved in debating prostitution for goodness sake. Like an alcoholic left in charge of a pub....... |

It is something to do with the calibre of the people doing the job , then the pressure seems to break them. I worry for the mental health of a lot of our politicians and I don't think they are equipped with the right mental strength to function in a goldfish bowl.

Radio 4, 5pm yesterday was full of Keith Vaz related chat. He has clearly had a fractious relationship with the press so they decided to trot out various misdemeanours from his time in politics. The guy finished his report with some scathing commentary about the reputation Vaz has within Westminster for self promotion, so much so his nickname is Keith Vazeline. You couldn't make it up.....and on Radio 4 too...
