MyHermes
I'm shocked and stunned, I had a parcel delivered by myhermes earlier today. The female driver didn't knock on my door, instead she felt she had the right to open my front door and shout "parcel". My elderly mother in law lives with us and witnessed the delivery. I've sent a complaint through their website but wondering what else I can do? DON'T PANIC

Not exactly what you would expect!!

I am not sure whether they have the service any longer, but DPD used to allow you to track the van as it done its rounds. It is quite shocking that at 11.00am in the morning 'Gary' still had 242 parcels to deliver before mine. As you can imagine, the parcel never arrived.

I knew a guy who worked for one of these parcel delivery operations once and they really did pressure them to get the number of drops maximised. I suppose it was the drivers way of getting a response quicker - albeit an unconventional way......

Still better than creeping down your drive to deposit a card saying that they are sorry that you are out, when you sit in the lounge watching them! I've had that a couple of times.

Not sure what else you can do. Most delivery companies don't have a customer face anymore and everything is automated. Sadly, I'm not sure you will ever hear any more. Just make sure there are no marks left on your gate post. You may just blacklisted by the other delivery drivers Shocked

We use many of the big names on a commercial basis and you'd be surprised (well, you wouldn't really) at how many items disappear into thin air. Generally the items are those that are easier to move on....

Our own internal monitoring and tracking systems have resulted in some of those who are systematically 'careless' having to seek alternative employment without the benefit of a reference.

You need only look at their recruitment and induction policies to understand how this occurs.

Of course there are also some absolutely fantastic customer-centric employees who you'd employ yourself without question.

They aren't great I avoid them.

Best I know of is UPS, but you do pay for it.

I suppose at least you received the parcel but I trust you informed her to use the servants entrance around the back in future. Steve.

I'm not sure that would be a question to ask your elderly mother-in-law. Saying that, I'm not sure that's a question to ask any mother-in-law if you want to sleep soundly at night

Had a delivery from Argos via yodel today, not the best form of keeping you informed. If they don't deliver am. They send you a text saying they deliver it pm before 21.00hrs bit hard on the driver's, long day

I was expecting two collections on Friday one from DPD and the other from Tuffnels.

I'm still waiting. 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green - It's a keeper.

DPD driver that delivers here doesn't speak one word, cats obviously got his tongue.
Won't even answer if you speak. Rolling Eyes

One time he did as I had some 25kg fertiliser bags delivered he said I quote.

"What's that? Heavy stuff innit in there?!?". Rolling Eyes

Another twit a month or so ago from an unknown carrier delivered some garden chairs we bought.
My mother answered the door.
Bloke started saying "I was on holiday, the such and such **** company made me deliver these."

Following on from that: "What do you want to be buying chairs for?"

Bloody cheek!

My mother turned around and said 'why not?.... And off he tootled..

Complete clowns some are. Rolling Eyes

I have to say that round here the MyHermes service is streets ahead of the rest, I can't fault the local agent. DPD is not bad, but the rest are an embarrassment to the human race.

I think most of our regular delivery people round my area are really good.

Our MyHermes driver I think is self employed and he is fantastic. As long as the items don't need a signature, he leaves the parcels in a secure place and posts the card.

DHL are awkward around the Norwich area as their local hub is Cambridge. A long way to go if you need to make a pick up rather than waiting for a re-deliver. But as I said, good regular delivery drivers.

I once had the misfortune of going to our local City Link depot. The industrial unit had a pile of parcels shoved up the corner of the building in no particular order. I went to pick up and the staff couldn't find the parcel. He pointed at the pile and said that its in there somewhere. Unsurprisingly when they did find it the item was broken.

I presume that Amazons decision to start doing deliveries themselves will have a big impact on some of the companies. Saying that, we never seem to see Parcelforce vans?? maybe that's to do with the people we buy stuff from ???

The problem with all the delivery companies is that they are only as good as their drivers.

The guys on our DPD round are great, friendly and helpful. Probably the best of all the delivery companies. We use Amazon extensively and most deliveries come via them. sat and sun too!

Our MyHermes lady is probably in her 70's, delivers the parcels in a big Volvo estate and couldn't be more friendly.

ParcelFarce, not too bad. Never seems to be the same guy.

UPS, I swear the driver is actually Hermun Munster. HUGE! Says very little!
