I'm after a light to install above the rear door. Was originally looking at the labcraft s17, but the price is bit much. I was then pretty much settled on a Whelan one, but now a firm called Wilderness cropped up on my Facebook and they've got a two for one on this http://www.wildernesslighting.co.uk/wilder...093-p.asp. Any thoughts on the quality of Wilderness, especially compared to the Whelan scene light?

Can't comment on their 'scenelight' .. but I have a pair of their square 'compact' LED spotlights on mine [the 4x 10W LED ones] and they are outstanding!
Fitted for about two years, come on with main beam. Performance has been both impressive and faultless  Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant. |

The reason the link doesn't work is that you've put a full stop at the end of your sentence

TBH the finish has faded quite a bit from new, still looks ok though .. It does sit in the sun all day  Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant. |

Cheers, I'm leaning back towards the Whelan scene light although I haven't seen one in reality. I hate crusty looking accessories that the finish doesn't last on. Might start a new thread to ask if anyone has got one of those.
I've had Whelan stuff on work vehicles and it seems to be able to take a lot of abuse. |

the light output is a good point actually, the 1400lm of my Scenelight is in many ways too much for just a little bit of camp light to cook by or whatever and I'm thinking of adding a bit of LED strip. However when I'm using it as a reversing floodlight it's much better.

Whelen / Woodway gear is top notch Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |
