I would have said to do it in the sun as the rubber is more supple. Having never fitted a pair I don't know what else to suggest

Hi,
I bought some of these, £20 ish I think for what looks like they're made from margarine tub plastic but once painted Corris + fitted they do finish the mirrors off a treat. I had the arms gloss blacked too so my mirrors were in bits but you have to build the mirror up first rather than put the cap on + then assemble. Ask me how I know !!!!! Anyway, I put the rubber in the oven (not overly hot or for too long) to make it easier but if we have a very hot day you may get the same results. I did have an "Oh F*@k" moment when I opened the oven door as they looked like they'd expanded massively and were round but they were ok and went on easily, and I had to do one twice due to putting one cap on first. Hope that helps Mark |

A bit of fairy liquid alway make rubber more pliable (other makes are available) Jeff

I'd second go beyond and jeffersj.
Be careful of dropping the glass, with wet hands it can be like trying to hold a wet fish! To get the rubber off, warm it with a hair dryer use either your hands if you can. If it's really stiff. ![]() ![]() Something like a blunt plastic trim too should free it. Fitting the new covers make sure you use only your hands to avoid damage. I have them on mine, it is indeed easier to re-fit than remove. If it suits you can just take the mirror and arm off, might be safer to do it on a table or similar instead. |

I fitted mine on a warm sunny day and only managed the one before my finger tips gave up and said no more. I had to do the second one after my fingers had recovered.
Lots of poking and prodding but got there in the end and very pleased with the result. Phil |

Well it was a doodle! Removed the mirrors and sat in just off the boil water for a few minutes then seal easily removed and replaced.
My first purely cosmetic mod, but I'm really pleased with them. ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge Thanks for your help again ![]() MY2012 110 2.2TDCi XS SW Orkney Grey - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic43410.html MY1990 110 200TDi SW beautifully faded Portofino Red - https://www.defender2.net/forum/post743641.html#743641 MY1984 90 V8 Slate Grey - https://www.defender2.net/forum/post744557.html#744557 Instagram @suffolk_rovers |
