Hello,
I've done quite a bit of research into this but thought I would ask the question anyway in case anyone knows of a quick fix or exactly what it is... I got into my 64 plate defender yesterday and no smell until I started her up and the heater fans came on... I was then hit with what can only be described as a manure / sick smell - although I believe it may be called sweaty sock syndrome Do any of you wise folk know what or how this has come about or how to fix it? Cheers Michael |

If the vehicle has airco and if it has not been used for a long time, moulds and yeasts can grow in the aircon filter. Have the filter changed and use the airco once in a while, even if it is not hot. Cheers, Vincent

Indeed. A few weeks ago I noticed that smell in my MINI, and a rattle. This is what they found: Click image to enlarge |

Or, it could be your ignition switch burning up and fusing with one of the wires...

If it is not debris then it is uncommon for air con to smell because of the bacteria crap while not being in uses. motor factors sell a spray that can clear the smell. Jeff
