90 Rear Mudflaps - restraint ideas??
I am finally looking to come up with a restraint for the 90s rear mudflaps to prevent the phenomenon of them (mainly the weaker NS one) jamming themselves into the tyre at 50+ mph - now on the 3rd one for this latest 90.

Anyone who regularly tows cattle trailers any distance will know the issue so I'm curious what solutions have been employed. I'm torn between a chain hung down the back which is tight when the flap is straight or a wire frame on the inside.

Any ideas? Don't want it to look stupid but then a gappy mudflap is not exactly pleasing to the eye either Big Cry

Thanks Pinky!! Thumbs Up

Perhaps my idea isn't as daft as I thought. Must get on with it.

Our Aussie 90s have a rear exiting exhaust which creates a different issue,...at around 100kph the mudflap gets pushed up by the airflow into the path of the hot exhaust gas, which then proceeds to melt the mudflap!!

Mud flap stiffeners as installed by Land Rover Hong Kong where the law requires this on front and back. Both on a 110 and on a 90. Something like this surely will solve the problem.

More in the below thread, but those stifferers surely would look better if painted black. By the way, that special colour of this Hong Kong 110, called Matt Desert Brown is just great I think.

Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

They look pretty good Eric, I've never seen anything like that.
The only thing I would say is that if the mudflap hit something, instead of bending/flexing,...it might instead bend the bracket?
