Sill protector chequer - should it fit exactly?

Hi all.

This is my first post having just joined the Defender community. I've wanted one for ages and three weeks ago became a proud owner of a 2013 110 XS Utility SW. Its in really good nick with lots of extras fitted by a couple of previous owners.

I did however want to fit chequer sill protectors as the sills seem to have most scuffs and scratches - and I actually like the look.

I ordered some Mammouth protectors and on delivery was surprised to see that these seem an inch or so short in length? Is that what I should expect? Are there alternative suppliers/manufacturers that makes sill protectors that would fit exactly between the wheel arches?

Also, it also looks like a tight fit with the bottom of the rear door. Again, is this normal and can it be fixed by adjusting the hinges?

That sounds about right, when centred there will be about half an inch gap at either end. Landrover build quality is why the rear door will fit close but hopefully shouldn't touch Ray

Thanks mk1collector.

I've been trying to have a look via google images and auto trader for examples of sill protectors. Some of the newer and special editions seem to have perfectly fitting sill chequers (as does the X- tech) but many are just about an inch short.

Has anyone come across a supplier that would offer an exact fit?

Ridiculously old thread - but I'm wondering the same. I have what I assume are factory plain silver sills which fit perfectly but when I tried black sills from lrparts (Mammouth I think) ... they were short. I sent them back at that point and now can't remember if the holes even lined up. I'm not keen to drill another set... Is this the same across suppliers?
