Does anyone know how much a new viscous unit is from land rover?

Either phone the parts dept. at a maindealers or e-mail John Craddock. Cannot see why either of the above should not give you a quote. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Well I sure would like to tell you but the dealer never phoned me back with the price like they promised they would
 Nothing changes
But they did book it in to see if they could fix the leak unlike the first dealer. I will sort it out tomorrow if work is not too manic, then hopefully get back to you. Boy |

Cheers - I have a suspicion mine may need attention. I had a drive belt replaced because of a squeal when the alternator drove hard, a new belt sorted it but it is back on cold start up.

The problem I have TC is that the dealers say it is ok. Must have been working the day they had it but I have just driven to a village about 7 mile from me to pick up some S2 parts and it was locked when I started, locked whenI got there and locked when I got back. I really can't take the dealers anymore so the only way I am really going to know is buy a new one and get the independant LR (500yds away) to fit it.
Hopefullly this will help with the mpg as last weekend I went to York and on the way there I got about 19.8 mpg then on the way back about 24.  I took the roof rack off yesterday to help. |

Just been on the phone to the dealers in Milton Keynes as i have given up on waiting for the other dealer. The cost of the fan unit that includes the viscous is £194.56 + the vat.
I was hoping for it to be less, well half that but hayho. Don’t know if I can afford that (i could if I knew 100% it was a dud), the independent Land Rover garage around the corner from me say they will fit it for around £20 as I am very busy at work and weekends are out for the next month or so. The independent is going to have a look to see what they think before I buy it just in case it is my imagination. Boy |

Sensible to get the indy to look at it first. It may end up being additional cost but at least you will know that is the problem |

Don`t you know anyone near you who would lend you there`s to try?? its less than a 5 minute job to swap the viscous

That's a good idea!
The chap from independant garage is going to check it out for me early next week, I trust him as he has/does look after my older land rovers for many years now. Just hope it is my imagination, I know there is something wrong as the mpg has taken a right dive. Also having the hoses checked. I am off down to Portsmouth at the weekend to me up with some land rover friends so I will see how it runs then (without the roof rack). Thanks for the tip. Boy |
