It's the atmospheric pressure and temperature sensor. You need it as it gives the ECM the base line reference for boost pressure.

I wouldn't personally the oil from the k &n might damage the airflow meter. I removed the k&n panel filter from mine incase and ive not refitted it 2014 - current ..... 2003 defender td5 90 (my car)
