Thanks for the link Thumbs Up

I'm going to leave it until next week because I'm not sure what they are up to at the moment.

Got one letter saying my direct debit has been increased to £550 a month, today got one saying it has been decreased to £195 a month, Log into my account and the debt is still showing as £7k!

Only thing I can think of instead of sending money to a Utility company I have inadvertently been funding a far right Scottish Independence group Shocked Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

I feel your pain. They are without doubt the biggest shower of the brown stuff it has ever been our displeasure to buy electricity from. Their accounting and customer service are dire, simply dire. Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades.

Soft Sax
Was bimbling round the Alps over the weekend, Spotify play list churning out my as complete list as possible of favorite hits. It occurred to me that the songs we (Mrs Grenadier and l) most enjoyed singing along to had a healthy dose of brass sections, perhaps a little string soft sax and more than likely some soft sax.

Check these bad boys out in KC's brass section. A little red-flared fillip for a Monday morning:

Which means you'll be able to have much fun as this lot are, dancing with reckless abandon.

Does anyone do this anymore? When did that all stop? Current 'pop' music seems to be all the same, no fun, and often either soporific rubbish (naff, X Factor factory-produced R&B pap) or angry rap. Do teens dance like Kevin Bacon anymore? 70s and 80s pop was f*@#%$ing brilliant, peps up a grey morning and I miss it. Big Cry Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

BT (and some BT contract engineers).
Phoned to have my phone line re-located due to imminent roof work on the dormer.

Engineer turned up and I explained why we needed it re-locating.
Engineer said he was not allowed to go on my roof to locate to a chimney stack in case the stack is unstable - quoted H&S rules.
Me - so can you put it on the other dormer
Engineer - No we don't carry roof ladders
Me - I have a roof ladder which you can use
Engineer - not allowed to mate, quoted H&S rules
Me - so where can we put it
Engineer - dunno mate we could fix it to your wall

I explained (just in case he hadn't noticed) that it is a bungalow with single story walls an the line would then drop down from the pole so low that it would be in the was of passing high vehicles such as busses.

In the end he spoke to his boss who gave him the go ahead to borrow my roof ladder to fix the line to the other dormer. Why he couldn't have done this in the first place was beyond me as they must come across this sort of thing all the time

We recently had a new roof on our house. The builders recommended some strengthening was needed to the existing timbers.
To do this a fair amount of stuff stored in the attic needed moving. After the job was complete and the builders gone I dropped the hatch and steps to the attic. Climbing up, I found the hatchway completely walled in, to the rafters, with attic contents. The wife and I now have to remove everything to gain access (which is needed for some electrical mods). It all has to be taken down the loft ladder, sorted and replaced.
We're both in our 70s. Sad

New mobile phone arrived today and the tinternets so bad here i'm going to have to go to costa starbucks or the library to
use their wifi to update the thing and refresh my apps.

I get better internet in the Congo, seriously not a lie, faster in the apartment and faster on the mobile phone.

Ring mechanics a week beforehand to book a WOF (local version of your MOT):

"You don't need to book, it's a drive in service"

I ring up the morning as I want it to make sure it's free with no queue:

"Have you booked? We're not free until 3 days from now"

Shocked Confused

... I try another, which I book for 10AM the next day. I turn up 10mins before booking:

"You're leaving it here right?"

"Ummm, well yeah whatever it takes to get the warrant (?), how long will it take?"

"Our hoist isn't free until this afternoon"

Thud

What is it with people? They were just so matter of fact about it...

And here I am trying to support a local! Straight off to the drive-in chain, done in 15mins and they were actually working on it before I sat down... Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...

Journey back from Dover yesterday was painful. The volume of traffic was one thing, but the delay was caused by the number of ex military vehicles breaking down or crashing. There must have been a gathering of people who like to dress up in army fatigues and drive things, each to their own, but I wish they'd spend more time making sure their vehicles ran rather then bolting another f****** shovel to the side. A 3.5 hour run lasted 5.5.

Buy bacon that doesn't have 10% added water on the label.

The children sorting out the parking at this years New Forest and Hampshire Country show , arguedwith her about the space needed for the Range Rover classic parked in front of me to allow his tailgate to open , the reply was a shrug of her shoulders , then she parked the row behind me less than the length of a 110 , again explained to her the turning circle of an110 .Her supervisor turned up , could tell he was a supervisor as he had a greater degree of acne and nonchalance about him , explained I needed a bit more space to be able to reverse and turn , his reply , don't see the problem bud ! F@&King BUD ! BUD , livid and with that he walked off pulling up his baggy skinny trousers as he went !

Now am not that old but really someone old enough to be his grandad called bud , what's wrong with a bit or respect and maybe the od sir once in a while!

And maybe some who is old enough to know that not all cars have the turning circle of a saxo or what every hot hatch the youngsters drive these days
