Hi all, so on a narrow country lane the other day when an Audi came tearing around a bend, I locked up pointing down hill on lots of gravel, to avoid going head on I decided do ditch it. I must have only been crawling really, but he was still skidding toward me, so I went left (there was a bank either side with no chance of getting around. Unfortunately the car went up the bank and rolled onto its roof, side airbags deployed but fronts didn't. Luckily we all walked away without a scratch, which is more than I can say about the car.. As I rolled onto the roof the Audi made contact and damaged his bumper, bonnet, wing and grill. I think if hi hit me head on there would have been injuries, but maybe the car wouldn't be written off, as it stands I can say without much doubt that it's a write off 😩😫 but judge for yourselves.. Now the Mrs wants a Disco 4 so will be on the prowl for when the insurance pays out.. On that note, I've had a little look around, but can anyone say a figure I'm likely to receive? The car was in great condition It's a GS 2011 (facelift) 60 plate with almost full LR history and just hit 60k. Any info would be great as a guide as to what to expect. If we don't get a disco it will be def another FL2, I'm completely gutted that it's gone ☹️ #mykidsareawesome Click image to enlarge My 1986 90 is currently on a full rebuild, with new chassis, Paint etc.. Very much a hybrid, TD5 Chassis, tub & bulkhead with a 200TDI and LT77 GB Painted in Stornoway Grey 2 years off the road, but getting close to completion now |

Shame about the car, but the more important thing, the "cargo" was fine thank god.
Good luck with the search. 04' 90 Td5 CSW.. |

Thanks guys, they kids were fine, apart from a little seatbelt pain from hanging upside down for a couple of minutes while I got them out.
my lad was laughing (takes after his old man) but daughter was crying until I told her to chill out everything was fine. I explain to them that its the reason we own 3 LR's (FL1 TD4 MY04, the FL2 (sadly missed already) and the 200tdi 90, soon to be back on the road.. its a testament to the Freelander 2 I think I know they're slated a lot, but I think its a great car and obviously very safe in a roll over situation.. If we don't get a Disco 4 with the pay-out it'll be another TD4 FL2.. My 1986 90 is currently on a full rebuild, with new chassis, Paint etc.. Very much a hybrid, TD5 Chassis, tub & bulkhead with a 200TDI and LT77 GB Painted in Stornoway Grey 2 years off the road, but getting close to completion now |

I've had 2 of them when my 3 kids were small because I wanted something safe for my precious cargo - glad you're all ok Hope the Audi driver is investigated thoroughly - without wanting to judge - why is it always Audi and BMW drivers that appear to be trying to run you off the road - do they have something against LR owners Hope you get sorted quickly without too much stress and inconvenience Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW Still hoping for a S2 one day! |

Glad you were all unscathed. Small matter but easily overlooked....Remember to notify the insurers soonest that the plate belongs to you should you wish to retain it!

Wow, glad you are all ok that looks quite dramatic.
I know we get attached to our cars but they are easily replaced. I've had a Disco 3 for 6 years which I use for work and ferrying the kids. Great car and does everything you ask of it but can be expensive to maintain. I'm just debating whether to buy a new 4 before the model disappears. Hope you get it all sorted out. And that's why you ferry the kids around in a safe car rather than a Defender

“… always a nut case driving far far too fast in the lanes like that”
But which driver is the nut case? Observers will see a saloon with a damaged bumper, bonnet, wing and grill, and a rolled-over 4 x4, and draw their own conclusions. Had you been driving slowly enough in a single track lane to stop dead, and not "locked up pointing down hill on lots of gravel", the Police could more easily establish blame. As it stands, 50/50? Glad you all walked away.
If you roll a Defender, it crushes like a paper cup. Get a replacement ASAP rather than ferry your kids in it I say. People get all misty eyed about the Defender but in reality it's a death trap compared to modern motors. 2016 D4 HSE 1998 110 TUM HS FFR Hard Top XD WOLF 1982 Series 3 SWB Petrol |

I must admit this did make me think more seriously of getting a roll cage.
