Because I don't have a carpet ! I would see the wires coming from underneath the passenger or driver's seat ! ....and going to the back ! My DC is a basic spec one ( E version ? ) And since I have to fit the roof console for the CB I was thinking on routing everything through the roof lining !! I just would like to know the best way to remove it, as well as what parts of the dash do I have to remove, if any ... Don't want to remove anything I don have to ... Good reason . There is a tool to remove them (it is like a lever bar with a special fork end) but from experience half of them will break whilst removing so it would be a good idea to get a few in just in case. You shouldn't have to remove any of the dash, just reach in from where you can.... then just take the A-pillar trim off to lead it up to the roof. Glyn |

Something like a pincer plier would do the job? I'l try to find something ... and go get some spare plastic rivets ... just in case ... ! ...and I'll try to find my way through the dash ... ! I'll post pics when I fit it ! Thanks! TC, what did you eventually do with your DC? I'm going to have to try something as well on my DC. Also, can't decide if I want a flat Sub below the rear seats or a rearward facing one attached to my cubby. What did you do? I ended up with a small self contained unit under the back seat. It was pretty useless though to be honest; if you are serious about doing it then your money would be better spent on sound deadening the entire cab and once done, fit a decent set of cross overs and a small amp up front.
You could build an enclosure for a sub below the rear bench but it would be very small / low capacity. I rapidly arrived at the conclusion that without forking out an arm and a leg there was no solving the problem...As said though, it isn't really about the power you can squeeze out of any speaker or device you put in the cab, it's about what happens to the sound once you start generating it - you have to deal with the fact that the acoustics are no better than a tin can. You can get a budget version of dynamat on fleebay at a reasonable price, much better to strip the cab down completely and get wallpapering! |

Wow, a thread from the dead!
In my DC in the end I didn't bother with rear speakers, I upgraded the front speakers and fitted a sub underneath the cubby, raising the cubby on a home-made riser unit thingy to accomodate the sub. The sound is pretty good, and the cubby is a much more comfortable height for resting the elbow whilst driving. |

I made my own custom sub enclosure to fit behind the rear seats and in the very near future will be making some fiber glass pods to fit in the corners to house some 4 or maybe even 5 inch speakers.

Thank you both. Going for a full SilentCoat and Mat of the interior, very keen on really tackling the rattles and tinny sound throughout. I will have at least Focals upfront, but ideally throughout. Even thought about popping the LR Tweeters into the headlining in each rear corner.
10cm to replace stock, with suitable tweeters. http://www.feuvert.fr/enceintes-haut-parle...52314.html Then this mixed Amp/subwoofer which looks slim enough to possibly slip under the rear seats. http://www.feuvert.fr/ampli-caisson-subwoo...91682.html Finally a pair of 13cms behind the rear seats, http://www.feuvert.fr/enceintes-haut-parle...52319.html Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |
