Oil Filter cup leaking following oil change
Gents,

Having just changed the oil and filter at the weekend I've noticed the plastic oil filter cup is leaking. Either the cup has cracked or the new rubber o-ring, despite being well oiled, has failed.

My question to you is, if I leave the sump filled with oil and just undo the filter cup, how much oil could I expect to lose? Every time I change the oil and filter I've always drained the sump first and then undone the filter so have no experience of doing other way around.

Cheers

Mark

I had to swap the fillet only a couple of weeks ago. Not much oil company comes out, maybe 250ml, athlough it feels like a lot more when it is trickling down your sleeve!

What did you swap the fillet for? Sirloin or maybe a nice bit of cod? Laughing

It was Fillet 'O Fish, and I swapped it for McNuggets if you must know! Very Happy

Did you replace the O ring into the correct groove in the filter canister? 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered.

Oh yes, all done right - as I said, I suspect either the o-ring failed or the bowl has cracked. Will know why on Saturday once I get it off. Was just curious to how much new oil I'd lose so I can make sure I have enough to top up afterwards.

Cheers
