I should have written 'their fleet of lipo batteries'... They just happen to be using the Powerwall - I don't blame them, with all the hype they certainly capture people's imagination.

We looked more at the control systems of a fleet of batteries in aggregate (google 'virtual power plant', energy arbitrage and so on), so each unit was pretty much just a kW and kWh spec on a spreadsheet. Never actually seen one!

That being said, they do look nice, although much of your experience of using one will be more aligned with your experiences with the required inverter/charge controller.

If you've already invested in solar, a battery is a reasonable addition for the obvious reasons but without knowing much of your situation my general advice would be that if a company is marketing them heavily in your direction it's because they will have found a way to make/save money by you having one (to allay infrastructure demands for instance). Try to figure out how far you can push them to swing the deal in your favour Thumbs Up Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...

I am a machinist. Most of the time a run a cnc lathe but I also do simple cnc mill work, surface grind, od grind and weld. I make components for auto and defense industries as well as gages etc. Also repair parts for plastic extruding components.

Obviously missed it the first time round

Accountant aka (bean counter) at Plumbing & Heating company do a lot of new build instals for new housing developments - the compay not me - I just count the beans & make sure we have enough to pay everybody at the end of the month.

Very boring compared to most on here but at least i get to drive my defender every day Thumbs Up 2020 P300 HSE

Manage the technical and nautical operations of a fleet of cruise ships (16 to be exact).

Marine Engineer, Electrical Engineer and Naval Architect. Driving a desk with the occasional expedition to a dry dock and routine ship visits (15 times per year). Used to sail on board for 13 years then got married and was told I needed a desk job. Bow down My 10th Land Rover, but my first Defender.

Supplier Quality Manager in an Aerospace company.
Main responsibility is ensuring that the suppliers are approved for the parts they manufacture and that they understand and employ the requirements we have for them. Across a range of areas, machined parts, injection mouldings, hoses, and conduit.
Takes me around the UK and some of Europe by Eurobox not Defender. It does show me that of the new rental cars I have tried none are as fun on interesting to drive as the Land-Rover. 1995 Defender 110 CSW

Left school in mid 70's and started an engineering apprenticeship as fitter/turner, but in year 2 got made redundant. Got another place, now as fitter/sheet metal and made it through. Kept on as development engineer, but one year in as skilled and it looked rocky for this company (gone soon after), so looked around for a career with a more certain future.

A couple of years ago I retired after 31 years in the Police, mainly CID, having been with a few forces and landing up at a Home Office Dept.

Now back to engineering..........Defender ownership! Regularly travelling back and forth to South of France, crammed into a Defender, as I joined up when cops needed to be big!

Oh goodness where do I start ... ... with the present as the past is in the past.
Currently an Employment Support Advisor in an NHS IAPT (Improved Access to Psychological Therapies) supporting people with mild to moderate mental health problems into work, volunteering, training or education. Also supporting people on long term sick back to the work place or finding alternative employment. Busy job but with experience relatively easy and Monday to Friday 9-5. Been doing this for almost 4 years now. (Fab job just don't tell my manager Whistle )
Previously managed a vocational rehab service in a local psychiatric hospital and community service. Current job half the pay of previous but not even a 10th of the hassle of managing staff or budgets.
Also volunteer for two charities as a trustee one a mental health organisation the other a welfare rights / debt management service.
How do I keep my defender on the road I run all the Relaxed and Scenic Tours as a partner in All Terrain Tours; I also keep the website up to date and all the social media stuff. And hopefully one day my escape plan from the public sector rhetoric and red tape.
Also in the last 10 years graduated from Uni with a first class honours in health and social care and a masters in public health. Not bad for a lad leaving school with a handful of CSE's and O'levels quite a few years ago actually it does seem like a long time ago. Adventure isn't paved!
