However on the last referendum on whether we should join the EEC the vote went against what was already established and we entered what was in my opinion a good idea in its basis, but since it morphed into the EU that's when the rot set in. I started with nothing and still have most of it left! |

Actually, we were already in at the point of the first referendum.
A major difference, however, is that the status quo is not really an option now; a vote to stay is not to carry on in the current state but for further expansion and integration. Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK Discovery 3 TDV6 Auto HSE Zambezi Silver |

With less than a week to go until we are allowed to vote on what arguably is the greatest ballot for nearly half a century, I say to all young people, and when I say young, I mean those under forty, be brave, think of yourself as being British, give yourself an identity, a tough race that has formed and led what is best in this world in all of history, and given the chance without the manacles that are placed upon us by the EU we can be again.
Do not be swayed with a collective that says to be a European citizen will give you peace and a life beyond your wildest dreams, it will not. Vote next Thursday with a conscience of what this kingdom is and make it free from the constraints of those who wish to confine it to the will of unelected persons who do not have this great nations interests at heart. You only have one vote in a generation make it count . For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at.. http://www.youtube.com/user/conwy1 |

For those blaming Greece and our work ethics in some closed threads. We may not have the same work attitude with Germans but we have deep moral basis and inspiration whenever we need to overcome obstacles which threaten our existence. And it seems we are good at this for the last 3000 years. Please my British friends allow me to remind you you worked hand in hand with you to slow down the Nazi war in Africa during Ww2. A very heavy toll was paid by your empire and by our small and poor Greece, don't forget that who really fought back then this side of the Atlantic. Only Britain, Russia and Greece.
Concerning the referendum, we also had one here last year with more or less the same question. 62% voted No to the Euro. Two weeks later we had a new agreement with the EU. Unfortunately we never left. Not because we didn't want to but because we were not allowed. Your debate about yes or no is nice and interesting as a forum discussion but the outcome of your referendum will not change your (our) miserable lives as long as we allow ourselves to live without real democracy. The only goal of this mascarade is for people to believe that they do have a choice. |

Heres a thought...............
Listening to some people, including some on this thread, the recent mass immigration into the UK has had nothing but a positive outcome. Indeed the usual line is that without immigrants the NHS wouldnt function and thousands of low paid jobs wouldnt get done. Its finally been admitted by cleverer people than me, (those perhaps who called me racist for expressing my views years ago) that one of the effects of mass immigration is to depress low/medium skilled workers wages. Now this of course doesnt worry the 'professionals' amongst us - like say doctors or nurses or firemen or teachers or policemen etc etc because they have very powerful representation. A bit like the working man used to have when the unions existed. OK so I'm not a communist. I dont advocate the same wage for a premiership footballer and a road sweeper, so if we vote to stay in and there is continued influx what I say is then let market forces apply its full influence on the ENTIRE jobs market in the UK. So my suggestion is that we advertise for doctors nurses policemen firemen teachers across eastern europe and ask them whats the lowest wage theyre prepared to except. Imagine how much tax we could save if we got teams of young, fully qualified, hard working, enthusiastic Albanian dentists flooding into the UK, undercutting the UK NHS dentists. Same for policemen and firemen and teachers. Of course the country would be brought to a standstill by 'professional' unions who, whilst they are keen to point out how beneficial foreign doctors are to the NHS DONT YOU DARE pay them less than our UK workers or you'll undermine the indiginous NHS workers. All of a sudden that starts to sound a bit racist doesnt it. Just a thought...... |

Sorry to break it to you, but your logic is entirely flawed. One could be racist but still choose to vote to stay for other reasons that may be considered more important. Equally, someone can discriminate towards a culture or cultures outside the EU, but not to those within the EU.
As a young person myself, let me make a suggestion to others: I have already voted to leave. I have done so after years of consideration. I have done so because I believe all the arguments favour leaving, not some trade off between immigration and the economy. I have done so as a relatively "liberal cosmopolitan" person, who values the input of other cultures and friendly relations with our neighbours, yet I have also done so as a conservative person, who values traditional British culture very highly. I have done so for freedom, for flexibilty, for equality of opportunity. I have done so to improve British politics, to get the power back to our MPs and with it the faith of the British people, and with luck to see and end to the dogmatic imposition of others' opinions between countries. I have done so to see an end to the discrimination against non-EU migrants and to allow sustainable migration so we can continue to help others in the future. I have done so to increase market competition and get the best service and prices for consumers. I have done so to help small businesses to compete against the dominating big players. I have done so to protect ourselves from the risk of being attatched to a large political and fiscal union. I have done so to offer us the best ability to prevent terrorists entering our country. What I have not done is to make a hasty and unconsidered decision. I have not done so because I am a "little Englander". I have not done so because I am hostile to our European neighbours. I have not done so because I am prepared to gamble with the economy. I have not done so with blind optimism and nostalgia. I have not done so because I won't be affected by the result. I have not done so because I don't care. So to all the young people, and old too, consider the above, take a second look at whether the EU means and does what you thought it did or whether there's a different way, and don't be taken in the the remain camps narrow-minded, vengeful and totally inaccurate view of what it is to be a leave supporter. Don't let other people define the decision for you - you define it, and then you make it. Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK Discovery 3 TDV6 Auto HSE Zambezi Silver |

I hate Status Quo. Always pay the same guitar chords, dum-de-dum-de-dum-de-dum. Unbelievably repetitive. Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |
