Portugal 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Santorini Black
My 2011 110 went in with the death rattle.
Received a call earlier on telling me that it needs the shaft as well.
44.000miles.

My 130 started to whine and had loads of slack in the drivetrain...... took it into one dealer and they replaced a swivel seal under extended warranty. Said the rest was fine. I took it for another opinion.

Took it to a dealer who knows Defenders and more importantly understands the issues. Call today to say they are replacing output shaft, transfer box, new rear diff, all half shafts. They are also fixing the water leak, fitting a new front bumper and painting the windscreen surround and both bulkhead brackets.

While they have the box out, I am wondering if I should ask for the clutch to be done? 39k miles.

Discuss !

They won't take the gearbox out to do any of that work. It would be worth having it done though as its not much more work to pull the main box and do a clutch.

Just for the record prior to my ownership our 2012 110 had a new gearbox output shaft and flange 01/2015 and then a new clutch 05/2015. Shocked

I'm hoping this means all is good now but we'll wait and see! James

Problem is, they'll probably want £500 1951 80" S1 2.0

Sitting by the side of road with kids and holiday kit filling the 110. BANG, no drive and lots of swearing. There goes ANOTHER No.5 output shaft. Ashcroft kit fitted last time. WTF 🤬 .
That’s an average of 22,000 miles for each shaft.
