interesting one. is the disco2 steering box fit the same way as the def?

i just fitted a new steering box to my project, and changed over to a discovery 1 drop arm and steering rod.

Will have a look but I'm 99% certain it won't fit.

Pretty certain they don't fit too, but it does beg the question. Any reason why?

I did it a 10+ years ago on a D2 axled 90 project.

Basically it can't be done easily.

The mounting bolt spacing is different in the vertical plane which results in the lower set of holes being below the chassis rail, and the input shaft spline diameter is smaller on the d2 box.

I got around this by buying a new D2 steering column UJ section and a Defender one and making one out of the two.

I dont think it was worth it at all really. 2001 90 HT 6.0LS/6spdAuto.

Oh, I just bought "land rover discovery defender 4 bolt steering box" on eBay and hope to change it for my loose/leaky one. I have a TD5. Will this not work then?

That should be fine, the Discovery uses the same steering box as a Defender, the Discovery 2 uses a different box. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/
