Fitting Safari Equip Rock Slidiers - fit problem HELP!!
Hi

Have been trying to fir Safari Equip sliders today on my Utility. To get them in the right place to match the rear outrigger to drill and to sit nicely with front and rear arches. The body mount bolt on the front outrigger is not long enough.

Has anyone had this problem? Was thinking of getting longer bolts but not sure what strength/size etc they are?

Also seems to be a big gap to the middle outrigger to shim, approx. 18mm - is this normal?

Would appreciate any help/advice

Cheers

With the 110 R+ T sliders there should be a pack of spacers which are used on the middle outrigger. Now we are dealing with Land Rover build quality. Normally two per side for middle outrigger is enough. If you need more just ask the supplier to obtain some.

The front bracket requires the main bulkhead bolt undoing and putting through the front bracket

Some masking tape on outriggers AIDS marking them for drilling.

Use a couple of bottle jacks to hold it up in position helps.

Hi BRENDAN
Thanks for tips - I got them from you!
If I tighten bulkhead bolt up, it brings bar so far forward will have to cut 1/2" out of front arch and there will be a 3/4" gap at rear arch. If I used a slightly longer bolt then could put a spacer in to bring bar into better position which also lights up better with outriggers to be drilled?

What do you think?

In our last three 110's two have fitted perfectly one we had to trim front and rear arches by about 10 mm.

Spacers are normally only used on the middle, will try and get some more for you next week.

Believe the main bolt is M12 x180. M12 X 200 are available. Now I have seen a discussion about grades should they be 8.8 or 10.9. One argument was that 8.8 was stronger then the tabs on the bulkhead, I can not confirm that.

I will have to check with someone I know who will have more knowledge in that area next week.

Just a thought what washers/spacers are on your existing bolts? Will have to have a look on ours tomorrow

Drop me an email with real name on etc, it can be difficult going from login names to real names and addresses

BRENDAN
Thanks for reply
Bolt has 10.9 grade on it. Had a quick Google and plenty of 8.8 but no 10.9. Not sure if it will make any real difference. Always a concern if not correct grade then insurance not covered if something silly happens.
As far as I can see there are no washers on the nut end and one washer on bolt end.

Thanks for offer of extra shims I will email you direct tomorrow.
Cheers MATT

These have high tensile fasteners including M12x200 cap head grade 12.9 in a quick search.

Maybe you could also consider grade 10.9 M12 threaded bar?

Thanks apt100
Will order bolts. Thought about threaded bar but may stick inside in future as all threaded unlike bolt? I will coat in anti Swiss anyway

Might be a good point on the threaded bar. I was just bouncing some ideas around. Glad you're sorted with the bolts. Thumbs Up
