Change to a 13 pin so outruns the fridge properly and then I have a 13to7 pin adapter for the trailers 2008 110 2.4 XS Utility (Hagrid)

Im in the same situation and I have a 7 to 13 pin adapter for my caravan as I only normally travel up-to 7 hours away with my caravan to serviced sites and stuff in the fridge if packed in cold is fine.
I use my trailer more than my caravan plus if you have a 13pin fitted it has to be tested as part of the mot !! so I have no plans to change Current Landy is a 110 2.2 Puma bit different from my first one a Series 1 with a straight 6 petrol engine  last one was a 2.2 puma 90 but the M4 crash barrier took care of that !!!! |

If towing a modern caravan best off with a 13 pin socket. Get a 13 to 7 pin adaptor for trailers.
Both a 7 pin and a 13 pin socket is tested for physical security at MOT time, but only the 13 pin has obligatory light circuit tested at MOT time. Not exactly difficult. Modern caravans are getting lighter and lighter. Consider a Dixon Bates shock link for towing a caravan. Brendan |

13 pin is a MUCH better quality connector, far less prone to intermittent connection issues and filling with crud and water. I'm converting all my vehicles and trailer and caravan to 13 pin bit by bit, just the caravan to go now.
For backwards compatibility you can get a simple 13 pin to 7 pin adaptor or 13 pin to 2 x 7 pin adaptors which is what I'm currently using for our caravan. 13 pin is tested as part of the MOT but it's no harder to keep operational than any other light circuit ! http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/ |

I've got a 13 pin connector with a pretty much permanently fitted 13 to 7 pin adaptor. The springy flappy cover thing on the 7 pin connector isn't that great and does let water in (it's it good condition, they're just not very good) so I give it a squirt of oil/ACF50 or something every now and then. When I take the adaptor off to clean the 7 pin side, whatever I squirted in the 13 pin side last time is still there and in perfect shape.
If nothing else, the adaptor is keeping the 13 pin socket in good condition  |

I mounted my 7-pin trailer socket higher up, in line with the rear lights. That way it's out of the road spray and dirt.
Easy to connect internal too as the wiring is right the other side of the panel. |

Thanks for all the notes, I've ordered a 13 pin loom which should arrive tomorrow. Is is a fairly easy swap, I get the impression it's pretty much a plug and play at the back, is that correct?
