Need some help trying to diagnose a fuel / starting issue.
Fuel pump was much noisier than usual, not just on start up, but constantly while driving. Turning the ignition on it would whine, I could actually hear fuel being pushed through the line towards the front of the vehicle.(gurgling sound of air and fuel) If I tried to start, it would just crank and not fire. If I waited about 20 seconds, it would sluggishly start, rough, then come to idle fine. (no massive smoke cloud, being a sign of raw fuel) The screaming it was making was loud, and constant. Replaced the fuel pump, and spin on filter. Now it still starts with the same issue, still whines, but once the engine is running, the pump is silent. No external fuel leaks anywhere. Tried a new pressure regulator, no change. To me, it sounds like air is getting in the line somehow when the truck stops running. Even after turning it off, wait 30 seconds and start, as the ignition is turned on, pump whines. But it starts ok. Starting issue is only if it's left overnight. Any ideas? Could it be a faulty new pump. or?? it's a Landrover thing... my renovation thread: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic40792.html |

I'd change your injector seals before going any further

Injector seals are pretty much next on my list actually.... It's definitely digging deeper than what I have tried so far.
Looking to see if anyone has had similar experiences... it's a Landrover thing... my renovation thread: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic40792.html |
