Glad I recorded it. 'Fast forward' was my friend. Just like the last series, I won't be watching again.

Drivel fronted by highly overpaid clowns doing much the same drivel as the last bunch of overpaid clowns.
Earns a rating from me. Steve. Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

Forecasted so much half a year ago....
Now wait until the BBC discover that contrary to the past there won't be many foreign TV channels ready to pay the rights for being allowed to broadcast this new TG series with that ginger headed gent on the front line. The BBC penny counters may have to review this features (expensive) budget sooner rather than later. It's a bit like JLR and the Defender, keep the memory of the Defender legend high for decades to come, the entire LR/RR brand thrives on our legends history and reputation, don't try to water that down by trying to design some kind of successor which will be a Eurobox in the end and then launch this with that same legendary Defender name. Might be very counterproductive for JLR. Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

I thought it was really good (although I did fall asleep)
Extra-gear with Chris Harris was worth a watch though |

It's all too easy to forget that many were getting tired of old TG towards it's end (me included) as it was becoming so stale, corny and predictable...
So it's such a shame the new version has aped the old so closely - I was hoping for a refreshing new take on things. Evans even trying to sound like Clarkson! A foolish mistake by the BBC I think. The best bit for me was the TG Extra with Chris Harris & Rory, but that should have been 1 hour long. CH's take on the Nomad and Rory's meet with Sabine were edited too short & shallow - for an online channel were airtime is not an issue, and presumably viewing figures don't matter so much, I don't understand why it can't be longer/more in-depth? (Particularly now we are robbed of CH's YouTube channel)! I'm sure they will tweek things as they go, it may all change again by series 2 (hoping so), just like the old one did before. |

I didn't think it was as bad as many, but then having got bored of the previous, perhaps I had lower expectations. I am however surprised and disappointed to find that Chris Harris is only BBC3. In my opinion he and Sabine are the saving grace. Chris Harris writing was a joy to read and the man can drive and knows his cars. He is the counterpoint to the far too American Le Blanc and the shouty Ginner.
But I haven't written it off yet. I refuse to get Amazon because the rest of it is rubbish. I already have Netflix & Now so won't be watching that when it finally makes it out. New project and it's green: www.projectoverland.info |
