How about a Skoda Yeti, well built and easy to get in and out of, ask my 87 year old Father in Law. I have had one for several years, 1.8 petrol and has 4WD, one of the best cars I have owned.

My 90 year old parents often travel in my Mini Countryman - my mother who uses a walking frame due to hip problems finds it far easier to get in and out of the rear than any of my RRS’s and FFRR’s. She also found my Evoque’s (even the Coupe) easier than the bigger cars. She usually sits in the back but the Evoque Coupe was a problem due to the poor gap between the seat and the door frame, once in though she loved it. Thanks folks. Funnily enough, someone at our marina has a Yeti 4x4 (or "New Defender", as they're otherwise known...ahem) and I'll admit it looks very tempting. I just wish they had heated front screens, but I'll certainly look further into them.

I'm another Yeti fan. We're on our second now, and this one certainly does have heated seats!
Hard to find much fault with them really - easy in and out; flexible seating/loading layout; and good trim levels. Actually, it seems some of them do have heated front screens (and yes, seats) and they're cheaper than Freelanders. Hmmm....
Yes, thanks again everyone. |

As well as my Defender, we have a 2014 Freelander 2 as our main long distance car. We have had it about 16 months now and absolutely love it. It is the SD4 but it’s quick, smooth, looks good, effortless to get in and out of and the 89 year old Mother in Law loves it! It drives so well and luxuriously with its arm chairs, heated seats and heated screen and we couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Touch wood it’s been faultless so far.

Stonelake of Halifax look to have really nice manual 2014 FL2. Low miles. It's low spec trim but then seems to have had some expensive extras added like Leather, climate control etc. Only negative is that white body colour isn't the best choice in my opinion. I seriously considered it, but not the right time for us. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Cant vouch for living with one, but I know they are safe for occupants and pedestrians. Customer rolled one 4 times off side of a track, all occupants walked away and we drove the vehicle out of the woods later that day! Cheers

Got a 2007 XS manual I'm about to put up for sale with full service history, MOT till November with no advisories, rear diff just replaced, cam belt & water pump replaced, would be a 'keeper' except we've just bought an HSE auto. Really rate these as an everyday vehicle & from what I've seen of others using them they're pretty good off road too.

Our mate Phil (HRH) certainly likes them, and Certainly kept him safe when he rolled his last year! And he had another one delivered the very next day to replace it.
