Hi,
Has nobody else got any suggestions as to what this could be, or similar experience? Was rather hoping the wealth of experience out there could shed some light on it Cheers. |

Could it be the door card making contact/rubbing with the seat box?

Mk1Collector: I double checked the nylon sleeve and it is very worn. After hours of searching info online, it seems that I need to replace the striker, and many suggest the X Trouser one, so I have ordered one to see if that does the job. Thanks for your post and advice.
Seems like its a fairly common thing to happen, but it took me hours to find out the info Cheers. |

Agreed, it is a Defender, but there are some things that are so annoying they have to be fixed
Cheers. |

What I do on my work truck when the door rattles,is to put a dob of general purpose grease on the door strikers.
This is only a farmer fix but does seem to work, the noise usually increases over a period of time as things get a little dry . Have got a 2015 work truck and a 2007 90 of my own ,and it seems to work on both of them. Nick |

Is it the door itself or something inside it?
If it's something inside then remove the door card, drip membrane and check the security of the various gubbins inside the door paying particular attention to the screwed / bolted inner panel. If it's the door rattling in the door aperture: Pencil around the striker plate on the B pillar, slacken its securing screws and move the striker in a tad, secure the screws and see if the door rattles. Repeat as required. Steve. Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. Cheers guys, very helpful.
As soon as the new strikers arrive I will swap them over, and then do as you both say, appy a little grease anyway, can't do any harm, and then check inside the doors. I am going to be putting some sound deadening in the doors so they would have to come off soon anyway. Thanks also for the tip on mving the striker in a bit, as when I look closely, the door does sit slightly proud of the body so maybe does need moving in a little. Cheers all |

Don't forget to mark the door pillar before you remove the old strikers as it saves having to readjust from scratch Steve.

Well, the new X Trouser door striker arrived today.
Fitted it OK, moved it in a tad after a bit of fettling and the problem is completely sorted Plus, the slight draft by my right hip has gone too. Mk1collecter, many thanks for pointing out the striker, being totally useless at this kind of stuff I would never had known about that, and Happyoldgit thanks for the advice of marking the old one first; top tip. Cheers all. |
