I think there should be a much great range of levels.
Pass the test by the skin of your teeth? You can only drive a 1l car, during daylight hours and with no passengers. Want to drive at night or take passengers? Fine, but you need to take the test again and prove you can do better. Want to drive a car with no crumple zone or airbags? Well you need to have reached a certain proficiency level. Obviously that would be a nightmare to actually implement but it might help improve the standards. The only thing is it would push less safe cars towards being a sort of status symbol - drive a ridiculous vehicle like a Defender and you must be a driving genius Lighting is another pet peeve of mine. Front and or rear fog lights when it's not foggy. |
