2010 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 USW Corris Grey

Lumpy steering?

I noticed the last time I drove my 110 the steering felt a bit... notchy/lumpy when turning right at low speed. I'm not getting feedback with the wheels rotating, its just when turning the steering wheel.

Something isn't right

Check the steering column. Steve.

Might be worth putting some oil on the steering ujs.
Happened to mine before ,I just oil them once in a while

With the engine running it might be worth getting someone to wiggle the steering wheel,and check the steering box for excessive play.
Hopefully not that though.

Oil the steering UJs? You mean the two between the steering column and steering box? How does the oil get into the joint?

I agree that you should vigorously shake the steering and look for play. Otherwise look for any bent steering rods that are touching something else. You can pop off the tie rod ends and check them and the swivel bearings as well. 1995 300tdi Defender 90 P/UP

Yes the joints on the steering column.
Mine felt notchy so I just oil them occasionally.
It might be the turbo drying out the top uj.
