2015 110 Damp Footwell - rapair update
Thought folks might be interested in my damp Defender.
Not had this vehicle too long, and the only issue during my purchase checkout was a damp footwell.

After spending a ibt more time with it, it's obvious some surface rust on the footwell, so into the local dealer this week. Leak identified as windscreen to bulkhead, and has been fixed, but the rust has proved a bit more extensive. They have striped down to the bulkhead, as apparently they have seen this leak before causing bulkhead rot.
So far can't fault their efforts in trying to put it right, but proof will be whether LR cover the full cost of the treatment/respray.

Anyone else have similar experience?

BTW, dealer tells me they have seen a few like this, hence going the extra to get it fully treated.

Quite a common fault, my mrs's double cab had the same leak fixed under warranty. I've read the rust comes from and uncoated/unpainted piece of metal or bracing behind the dash. Lr should pay for the full fix. Ray

When you say "Windscreen to Bulkhead", do you mean the foam seal area?...or where the w'screen rubber seal seals against the bodywork,.....a pic maybe?

Sorry, I'm just quoting what the dealer found, not seen it myself, but I'll try to get a more detailed explanation when I go see them.

This is nothing new and the screen to bulkhead seal has been a potential problem area since the introduction of the 90 & 110 back in the '80's. Steve.

...and the quick cure is to pull the door seals out and run a bead of sealant along the entire join including around the ends / corners where the door seals fit. Steve.
