Quick update. Spoken to my local Land Rover transmission specialist and decided to give him my box and he'll put in the 1.211 gear set and do whatever else needs doing and then I'll put it back in

What sort of cost is that likely to be? I don't know how much life my transfer box has in it!

He reckons 250-300. My box has only done 43k so can't imagine it'll need much of an overhaul

just collected rebuilt box with 1.211 quiet gears. Needed re-shimming and just the output seal. All done for £300

It's back in a and the beast now flies!!! Had to use the engine hoist approach through the passenger door. Took many attempts prior to giving in an hiring 1. But managed it by mself. So now I'm contemplating the next project to do.....
