Sawtooth Alloys 16" vs 18" and Genuine vs Britpart
Hi all,
I'm new to the forum and have just bought my first land rover. A 2010 puma 2.4 defender hardtop.
I would like to upgrade the alloys from the boost to the sawtooth for general driving whilst keeping the boost with BFG mud terrains for off roading.
1. If I get 18" sawtooths will I need to lift the vehicle as the original alloys are 16" ? or can I choose a lower profile tyre?
2. What is the difference between the genuine and the britpart ones apart from price?
3. where do you advise to get them from?

thanks in advance Very Happy

18s will fit, as long as you dont go for ridiculous tyres. I was thinking about doing the same - if you get the 18s sawtooth, with the bfg ko2s, you can get the et10 offset which will give a wider looking stance too

ian raises a very prudent point though

Im looking at these as my next purchase then selling the continentals i currently have and replacing them with mud terrain

I've just read the other thread and it seems the questions and answers go round in circles,

Yes, no, maybe, who knows....doesn't appear to be an actual answer that is definitive.

I know with previous cars I have owned, Merc and BMW's etc the Genuine wheel upgrades cost a fortune. For example an SLK may come with 17" alloys as standard but to go to 18" AMG ones cost £2000 say, and you don't get the std ones to keep.

So many places offer copies. In all the years and all the forums I've been on owning these cars and the amount of people having 'copies' I've never heard of any issues. Buying the copies mean you get to keep the std ones also.

In my experience the genuine and copies wear at the same rate also.

Inform insurance and all should be fine with what ever you choose.
