More likely to be the well known driven plate spring problem, get the clutch replaced under warranty without delay.

agree sounds like the clutch plate springs mine got noisey at about same mileage changed at 11k little worrying that a 15 plate possibly has this issue as I was hoping that my new plate would be better than original one as it was replaced in 2014 DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,
I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy |

Thank you both for the replies.
I have booked her in for the week after next so I will report back with the outcome. I must admit I have been pleasantly surprised that this is the first thing I've needed to call on the dealer for in nearly a year since buying her, it's a shame it could be a big one. Will keep you updated. |

I'd be interested to hear what the garage says for a car so young. I thought that the clutch had been upgraded so your first prognoses could be correct.

If it's the driven plate springs, can you ask them to keep it for you to see, take a few photos and post up here.
Will be interesting to see which type has been fitted. |

Interesting, my 65reg is just past 5500miles and has just started to have a slight rattle when cold (that goes when clutch peddle depressed)... so very similar mileage. I will be interested how you get on. |

I couldn't make my original booking at the dealer to have this looked at, I have rebooked for this Thursday (28th) so I will update accordingly once the 90 has been looked at.
The rattle is getting progressively worse now with notchy gear selection also. |

An update for anyone interested in my clutch issue.
I had the defender in for the first service today and the inspection on the clutch issue. They have confirmed a new clutch is required due to broken springs on the clutch plate, to be replaced under warranty at the end of may. I did enquire as to what type of clutch would be used, ie updated or standard, I was told that no technical bulletin had been issued with regards to a known fault with defender clutch but land rover may now be using a new type or updated clutch if they no of an issue. So booked in for the 31st May, new clutch and new seals to my sliding window on the passenger side. The dealer has been very good so far, highly recommend Sturgess Leicester. |

My 2015 90SW with 4800 miles on the clock has just started to rattle when cold. It's already booked in for first service 2nd week in May so I'll get them to check it. Defender 90XS SW

I've had a rattling window for a few months now, dealer has looked into it and agreed it is excessive, I believe they are having a glazer visit when my clutch is fitted to try and resolve the issue with new seals. |
