I have a Pendle one for 4 bikes. Clears the spare wheel easily. Got it second hand from eBay.

Have a look at the maxxraxx stuff. They do one specifically designed to clear the wheel. I use one occassionally and it works very well 2002 110 td5

Hi Teegee,
I have in my garage a tow bar cycle carrier. I have never used it. You are welcome to come and have a look at it and see if its any use. I live in Southport so not far from you. As for cost a donation to the forum is fine. David. |

Pendle is good, I have one, but be cautious about the bikes rubbing. I use pipe lagging to protect them.

I used a Pendle one on all of my Disco 2s. Separate the bikes with the folding foam things from Decathlon.http://www.decathlon.co.uk/bike-frame-protector-cycle-carrier-accessory-id_684933.html
Mine's nominally a four bike carrier but generally only had two on it. I used to put one of the Decathlon things on first to give the innermost bike something to sit up against and I used to use two of these between the bikes to space them out nicely. They are absolutely first class and store easily when not in use. Be careful though and make sure that you get a Defender specific one as it has a unique offset. My Disco 2 one will not clear the wheel on a 110 - and that is the reason that mine is currently on Ebay. There are a couple of different models as they changed over the years - mine is the square section type - roughly 30mm - useful if you want to space the tow ball out at the same time. The current model doesn't set the ball out as far. |

I borrowed a friends Thule towball mount bike carrier the other day. I was dubious about just mounting it on the ball but it worked great!!

Does that Thule tilt allowing access to the rear door?
They are cheap and plentiful on ebay so constantly tempted... Instagram: L90andy My 1984 Ninety: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56071.html - SOLD! My 2015 Defender: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39625.html - SOLD! |

Yes it tilts, bit of a pain to reach the wing nuts that hold the tilt facility in place though. The spawn of AndrewS
