Is Obama a Blackmailer when it comes to Great Britain ?
The American President should keep his nose out of British affairs, and telling us to vote to stay in the EU and to keep us in line with what America wants, and then using threats with words like ‘you will be at the back of the queue when it comes to American trade, is just not on Mr President.

I’ve never liked Obama. I’ve never bought into the messianic nonsense that has surrounded him for the past ten or so years and let’s face it he has not been that dynamic as the so called leader of the free world...

Cameron of course loved every word Obama said yesterday, nonetheless when he threatened us with the back of the queue rhetoric, (and both camps whether you wish to remain of leave the EU should not agree or put up with that sort of intimidation). Cameron at that point should have said OK if that’s how you feel fine, however, if that is the case and the British people vote to leave and you push us to the back like some forgotten third world country , then you can close all you air and army bases down, and take all your troops home you blackmailing Yank! gilarion - touched a nerve? Laughing

I happen to agree though, no leader of any kind would go out of their way to damage their own trade... lets not forget they rely heavily on UK companies and people such as ARM designing their microprocessors that appear in everything from computers to contactless payment cards and clothing security tags... It does get my back up when something like this happens.
The British people are much more intelligent than politicians give us credit for and can see a political agenda for what it is. America doesn't have the same relationship with any other country in the EU despite it playing us off against France for so many years... I think a much more open and appropriate comment would have gone down better, something along the lines stating its "My personal opinion, for what it's worth", and perhaps saying that he would like to see the UK stay in the EU in order to continue with the growth that we may or may not have in the future, should the UK leave -obviously I can't right for toffee (hmmm I fancy a toffee now)

I think it has been discovered that Camerons team actually told him to say that, the Americans do not use the term 'back of the queue', they would say 'back of the line'.

All a ploy to use Britain's 'special friend' to use scare tactics.

I'm still on the fence with the whole EU thing but with this little outburst from Obama I'm seriously thinking about voting out for the hell of it. I really don't like being told what to do by someone such as him.

It sounded very spiteful and not consistent with this so-called special relationship which apparently only applies if we're in the EU?
I've been trying to think of what improved for the better since we joined the EU and haven't been able to think of anything except that we can travel Europe and only have their one EU currency to think about that, but of course that has nothing to do with whether we're in or out. 2.2 90 XS

Ditto I just felt Censored that he thinks he can tell us what to do, I don't actually know enough about the benefits of in or out but don't think he should get involved. I wonder what Clinton and Trump would say DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy

What you've got to bear in mind is exactly WHO encouraged Obama to do it though.

It wouldn't get all worked up about Obamas views because we will vote to stay in (not that it would make any notable difference in any case) My predictions are 62%stay in 38% out. Anyone else have a punt? Nice to revisit when its over

I predict an 'in' vote but I reckon it'll be close. No one really knows what the consequences of leaving will be.

Obama's back of the queue comment was certainly ill judged. Steve.

I'm going out too, probably against many being younger of similar group.
However, I reckon it'll be 51% remain or something ridiculous like that.

Personally, I think we're going backwards going forwards.
There is nothing to loose now only gain by being out, everything British is being shed both production and jobs to make foreigners richer.

After all would the US team up with Mexico and SA? Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter
