Homemade Light Bar
I've been looking for a light bar to add extra driving lights to my Heritage'y' 90 for some time but have never found anything I liked - everything is either chrome bling or black powder coat, and of course ridiculously expensive. So I thought I'd make something myself! Attached are photos of my finished result (FWIW.... Whistle ).

I wanted something industrial looking in galvanised steel to match the car so had a look at galvanised tube manufacturers on tinternet and found some stuff that I thought would make a really interesting addition!

Now here comes the fun part. 30 (not inc lights). Yep 30. All sourced from the Metal Store. Very Happy

What did your insurance company have to say about that?

Have you tested it yet - do the spotlights keep still or is there some vibration? - especially on poorer road surface/s?

I like the idea but

I think you need to be very careful here as that might be classed as a bull bar so is illegal on modern cars Exclamation 2020 P300 HSE

Maybe the odd one out, I'm not that keen... sorry

I think a bracket attached to the grill from the inside would look better, so less is more sort of look.

It looks to Bling and scaffold like for me, sorry

However I do appreciate you did it yourself and cheap at the end of the day we are all different and that's Thumbs Up

Thanks for all the responses.

Yes it's not for all @Stacey007 and yes It's meant to look scaffold like Thumbs Up , although I am hoping the galvanisation will dull with time.

On the bull bar question @pjb it's classed as N1 (commercial vehicle for road use) so this doesn't apply Shocked

It's rock solid @Sadi no vibrations noticeable when driving, much better than my previous effort which was to use a 'hidden' bracket behind the front grill.

And lastly, when I spoke to the insurance co. they said "You're a top bloke, it looks awesome and we'll reduce your premium for being so inventive.." Rolling with laughter

Am now designing a James Bond set of ski side runners for the winter made out of old fairy liquid bottles and some sticky back plastic... -------------------------------

Very flexable stuff there. I used the same galvanised tubes and connectors when I built my bike carrier. Simplezzzzzz! Cheers Don.

Are you sure?

All the references I can find suggest that the EU prohibiion on non-compliant "protector bars" applies to both M1 and N1 WVTA groups.

I'm glad to hear that you have a broad-minded insurance company, that makes quite a change in this day and age.
